Who are some the best class acts as wrestlers that you have met or wrestled. Just curious as to who gets mentioned. I have two incredibly gracious wrestlers off the top of my head. #1. Jeff Horinek. #2. Clay Madden
It's all in your mind. Yes or No, either way you decide what can be accomplished

I elect Daniel Prater of Pratt. He was only a 1 time state champ, but never finished out of the top 3 in the 4 years he went, never talked trash on other wrestlers, never made any excuses when he won or lost, overcame some personal problems that would have been plenty sufficient excuse to turn into something less than his best, and just kept working until this year when he was easily the best 135 pounder in the state. He was a pleasure to watch and a privelege to know as a person.

Hands down on this one for me is Bo Maynes of Salina South/OU. The fact he was so humble and gave a ton of his time to work with kids, sign autographs, and give you a pat on the back even in defeat, for me he stands out.

Munyan brothers. I have never ever heard a bad thing come out of their mouths and they r just about the most well mannered kids ive ever met. They always handle a loss with dignity and poise and never scream and holler. Truely gracious winners in my book.
With the power of Ra!

Autographs? That's a bit over the top to me.
So this kid is putting on his shoes right, and his mom says, honey you're putting your shoes on the wrong feet, and the little kid says, no mom these are my feet

Jhris, Be prepared at the Senior Classic to give a few autographs! Tons of kids think you guys are real cool.
And of course, you are!
Are you making a POSITIVE difference in the life of kids?

Oh yeah I forgot about state. One coach even asked my team where "The Man" was.

I had to sign autographs for a lot of foreign college students at UCO, they still think I'm a celebrity after winning the title of Mr. UCO...it's amusing.

No one could ever argue the points about Bo Maynes. As classy as they get. Still one of the biggest feats in wrestling not to give up a takedown in high school is incredible to me. And to be one of the most humble all around good kids was amazing. When he fell short of AA last year at Nationals it felt horrible. If anyone deserved it Bo did. But as a person you couldnt find better.

I still remember 1998...Bo was walking the upper level and just strolling along...then a sea of kids, parents, and fellow wrestlers parted like Moses and the Red Sea. It was quite the site...then several kids followed him around, pretty neat.

Class .... Payne and Steinmetz .... all four years ..... sad to see them leave ..... they won (and occasionally lost) with honor and humility, never disparaging their opponent ..... both revered in their school and community ..... wish they were freshmen so they could do it all over again ..... gentlemen scholar athletes .... they put the "stud" in student ..... good call on Maynes too! There are more class acts out there ..... love to hear about them.
