don't go with an ipod, creative labs MP3 players are cheaper and are just as good. plus im pretty sure that ipods are really only compatible with iTunes (I may be wrong though since i've never used iTunes).

I would highly recommend the iPod. You can just switch to iTunes and it does all the music for you, so all you have to do is make sure that you add the files. iPods are really sweet.

Yeah, you have to do iTunes. I just got a 30GB Photo and it's pretty cool. Just make sure you get a case for it immediately because they're supposed to scratch pretty easily. I got a case with mine so I had no problems, but it's what I've heard.
And don't worry about iTunes, it's by far the best music organizer out there.

Chewbacca I'm with you, don't get an iPod, get a mp3 player. I only say this because of the whole load of crap where it's only compatible with Itunes. And it costs a good bit more than just a regular mp3 player anyway.

I have a little wimpy mini iPod that my girlfriend gave me and I must say, I'm listening to it right now at work. It does only work with iTunes, but how many do you need? iPods are the highest quality mp3 because Apple is the number one computer company.

I have one of those Rio Arm band thingys I got from Ebay for half the price it sells. I can rip all the CD's I have in to MP3's with the software they give you. Plus it has a radio on it too. It is not big and square like those IPOD expenseive mothas!

Those are lame. How many songs does that hold. iPods hold like a bajillion songs if you get a big one.

Depends on how much memory you want to buy. I can't keep that thing on my head to long cause I don't run that long or I don't sit that long to want to keep listening. Like I said off and on I listen to the radio on it so I never get through all the songs.

I have an RCA Lyra for when I run. It's cheap, it holds about 60 songs and is perfect for working out.
However, an iPod isn't just something you have to just sit around and listen to. For 40 bucks, or less on ebay, you can get an adapter that plays it with perfect quality to any FM frequency around you, thus eliminating the need for a CD ever again, be it in your car or in your house. Or if you don't like that, you can just get a cable that hooks it into a receiver and for all intensive purposes you have a stereo, all within your IPOD. I have 300 CD's because I love to buy music, and now I don't ever have to carry them around again. I just put them on my IPOD and I'm good to go.
And if you have a Photo, then you can do slideshows and stuff on your TV or computer while playing music. Sure, I have no reason to do that, it's just cool to be able to do it if I wanted to.

I bought a Rio from ebay and am really considering upgrading. I do like to FM feature though. When you mow at a golf course in rural America it really breaks up the monotony.
My bigger question would be: what kind of head phones do you have the most luck with? I need something that cancels a lot of back ground noise and is not detectable (sound wise) from those nearby.

LancerM I am not questioning your music.......ness. I am just saying the IPod had a million adapter thingys and you have to keep shelling out more money. To me extra features are what they charge you for. It's kind of like when you buy a dell you get it and see that they charged you for some movie maker you are never gonna use. If you could ustimize your ipod and order it. That would be cool, but for just listening to music it is over priced.

All I know is that my senior year I had a Rio Sport and when I was working out on a cruise during spring break it fell off a desk from two feet in the air onto carpet while in its case and the LCD display broke. It still works though.
And it's all in what you want. If you want something to work out with, don't get an iPod because they are way to annoying to flip songs while running and are big to carry on your arm. If you want something to hold all your music so you don't have to lug CD's around in your car, up to college, on vacation and stuff like that, get an iPod.
And I see what you're saying TCarmona, but you don't really have to buy any adapters for your IPOD. It basically has all the things a Rio or smaller player would have, but it holds a ton more music. That's the reason they're nice, because they hold so much.
And seriously, Jhris and I both have them. They must be cool.
