This weekend didn't go as well as I had hoped but I do have to say as far as the ref's went I think they did a good job. I didn't have any kids on mat 6 so I can't speak for what happened there. I do have one complaint though; On Matt 11 match 20 there was a young man wrestling that has a sever case of asthma. He on two occasions during the third period informed the official that he needed his inhaler. Both times the ref refused to give him a time out, shook his head no and motioned the young man back to the center. I don't know the level of experience of this official or his knowledge of asthma, but he needs to realize that this isn't a case of an out of shape wrestler needing a break. This is a medical condition requiring the person to take medication to stop the constriction of his breathing ability. I could not believe he did this. After the match a coach attempted to ask him why he refused to give them a time out and he just motioned him off the mat rudely. I would like this official to imagine this, you are in a match wrestling well for two periods and then something you can't control happens. You try to breath, you gasp, but your able to get only half a breath you have the means at your disposal to cure this, but your refused. I know this kid, know him well. He runs extra, lifts weights, swims to increase his ability to fight off asthma attacks. He busts his butt to make it to state and what happens, his worst fear he has an asthma attack and the ref won't let him have his inhaler. Would he have won, no. Would he have placed probably not. That's not the issue. He should have been given the time out!
