Diet keep it simple, and cheap you don't need protein drinks, energy bars etc. For breakfat eat min. four eggs, after lifting within 5 minutes drink 16oz of milk. for supper eat min. one lb. of lean gound beef grilled on BBQ with smashed potatos. If this isn't enough just eat more of the same. Keep sugar to a min. Carbs only from breads and potatos.bagels are good too.

Rule of thumb the harder you work out the more ready your body is to use protein correctly its the only thing that builds muscle. The milk stops the catabolic activity (muscle brakdown from working out).

You should be able vary your weights enough to get you over the wall maybe a work out partner that makes you compete.Might try adding or taking weights off each set.
