It looks like the Turner coaches were busy during the finals on Saturday. (12 in the Finals) If you are going to win State titles I don't think you want to many of those tourneys. Good job Turner!

I am not really sure what you are saying in this post... wouldn't you want as many people in the finals as possible if you are going to win a state championship?
Anyway, Turner apears to really be turning it on at the right time. I wouldn't mind seeing the Bears pick up a title, they are definately deserving.

Gold Dome, what I was saying if I must, was not a cut down on the Bears. If Wyandotte wants to keep a quality team like the Bears in their tourney next year they had better add some quality schools to the line-up. How good is that for da bears to net fish all night. The whoopin was so bad they did not even post the team scores on the Ft. Scott web site.

I know it was not a cut down, I just didn't understand the point you were trying to get across. No hard feelings chap!

FYI
Last weekends tournament was NOT the Wyandotte Invatational but the Wyandotte COUNTY Invitational. Believe it or not our COUNTY has a strong tradition of producing very talented wrestlers.
Wyandotte COUNTY has 9 high school with 8 out of 9 competing in the COUNTY Invitational with Bonner Spring electing NOT to participate!!! People must remember that what goes up must come down and that all team do go in cycles. So lets do a recall...
As I recall from the last 13 years Wyandotte County have had 27 State Champions.
Wyandotte - 8 Harmon - 6 Bonner Springs - 4 Schlagle - 3 Sumner - 3 Turner - 2 Washington - 1
(Team Champions Garden City 122.5, runnerup Wyandotte 104.5) (Team Champions Garden City 173, runnerup Wyandotte 106.5)
1992 - (5A) Patch, Kyle [Schlagle] (103 lb. dec. 7-0) 1993 - (5A) Patch, Kyle [Schlagle] (112 lb. dec. 5-2) 1997 - (5A) Davis, John [Schlagle] (112 lb. dec. 11-2)
1990 - (6A) Lane, Derek [Wyandotte] (103 lb. ) 1990 - (6A) McKoy, Tony [Wyandotte] (119 lb. ) 1991 - (6A) Vargas, Jose [Wyandotte] (125 lb. )
1995 - (6A) Evans, Wal`zel [Wyandotte] (126 lb. dec. 4-2) 1996 - (6A) Evans, Wal`zel [Wyandotte] (130 lb. Fall 4:52) 1997 - (5A) George, Daniel [Wyandotte] (103 lb. dec. 8-1) 1998 - (5A) Allen, Mandell [Wyandotte] (112 lb. dec. 10-7) 1998 - (5A) Chaney, Charles [Wyandotte] (215 lb. Fall 0:55)
1991 - (5A) Koenig, Joel [Sumner] (275 lb.) 1992 - (5A) Speiss, Brandon [Sumner] (171 lb. dec. 7-3) 1997 - (5A) Jackson, Marques [Sumner] (152 lb. dec. 3-2)
1990 - (5A) Hodges, Aaron [Harmon] (160 lb. ) 1991 - (5A) Hodges, Aaron [Harmon] (171 lb. ) 1994 - (6A) Patch, Kyle [Harmon] (119 lb. dec. 3-1) 1994 - (6A) Cox, Jaudon [Harmon] (130 lb. dec. 4-2) 1999 - (5A) Frazier, Ryan [Harmon] (275 lb. dec. 1-1 (OT - Criteria)) 2002 – (5A) Kevin Pulliam, Harmon 275 lbs
1992 - (5A) Stean, Jeff [Bonner Springs] (275 lb. dec. 3-2) 1992 - (5A) Thompson, Brian [Bonner Springs] (135 lb. dec. 2-1) 1990 - (5A) Sickman, Jeff [Bonner Springs] (140 lb. ) 2001 - (5A) Vogel, Jimmy [Bonner Springs] (130 lb. Major dec. 12-4)
1996 - (5A) Simma, Chad [Turner] (189 lb. Fall 3:07) 2001 - (5A) Steinmetz, Mike [KC Turner] (152 lb. dec. 7-4)
2003 – (5A) George Roath, Washington (140)
Now for a reality check TURNER has an outstanding team and proved it on the mat last weekend as they out classed most of there opposition. But there was a time not long ago where TURNER could have been labled the worst school in Wyandotte County. This is a true testiment of the hard work put in by the Turner program and the outcome of it. But i can also assure u all KCK coaches are working hard at finding ways to turn all our programs around. We have a very strong interest in producing talented kids no matter what area school they attend. So yes most KCK schools are having down years but time says that nobody stays at the top or bottom for ever andwithin a few short years u will see a definate turn around.
Its not over yet...

I agree Wyandotte county has a very rich wrestling tradition. Bonner was at it's strongest during the 70's and 80's. The coach during most of this time was Dick (Big Daddy) Burns. He is now honored in the Kansas Wrestling Hall of Fame. His dual record for his first 10 years of coaching was 65-6. His teams also included two runner-ups and a third place finish in the 3A State Championships. Individual Champs during the 70's & 80's were:
3-A State Champs Preston Cole Mike Bell Frank Gonzales 2 time champ (High School record 69-1) and NCAA II Champ Levi Middleton (also won Grand State) Eddie Seaton 2 time state (also won Grand State) State Champs (not sure what class Bonner was in then) David Blackwell Jay Verdict
I don't think I left anyone out. I just thought I would put my 2 cent's in.
