Above are the team scores from 2004 for the respective divisions.

Now for the AP Statistics to kick in:

........321A..4A......5A..6A
Sum of Points1577..1615.5...1677.5.1650
Number of Teams.64..53.....32...32
Lowest Score..0...0.....0....12
Highest Score175.5.109....152...142
Average Score..24.64.30.48..52.42..51.56
Std. Deviation33.0628.90...41.09.32.81

By comparing the average team score we find that 321A is lowest followed by 4A, 6A and 5A respectively.

The Standard Deviation determines how spread out the scores are. The number listed in the table is how many points + or - on either side of the average. Within that +/- number is 68% of competing teams. Within double 95% and within 3 99.7%. (The higher the number the worse)

We then see the weakest there is 5A, 321A, 6A and 4A respectively.

Highest scores also reflect on goodness: 321A kills, followed by 5A, 6A then 4A. Lowest also factor in: 0 points in 321A, 0 in 4A, 0 in 5A, 12 in 6A.

Now heres the test for continuity: The average score of the top 10 and top 25 teams in 321A and 4A and the top 6 and top 15 teams in 5A and 6A.

..Top 6/10 AverageTop 15/25 Average
321A.81.5..52.18
4A....80.95.....54.56
5A...122.1589.64
6A..107..80.7

From these results, I can not clearly determine a winner. 5A has the advantage point wise, but after its top 15, the scores start to drop at higher rates. 6A looks to be at least the fairest class in that every school scored points. 4A is very highly clustered at the top and towards the end of the middle. 321A has the highest scores of any teams and also a lot more schools to compete against. However, they also had teams score 0, as did 4A and 5A.

So, if you want a winner, I say personal preference.

Yeah AP Stat.
