I don't accept that as an excuse. If you were intelligent enough to learn to speak in the first place, you are intelligent enough to learn to do it correctly. By doing it correctly you should be able to achieve an A or B grade. While not everyone is talented enough to write "The Great American Novel", most people are capable of being competent in English if they apply themselves. Every day I see ohterwise intelligent people who are held back in achieving career goals because they never thought it was worthwhile to pay attention in English. Now they cannot speak or write clearly enough to be considered for advancement. If it sounds like I am preaching it's because I am. I can't stress enough how important it is to master the basic skills: reading, writing and arithmetic. Okay, I'll get off my soapbox, quit acting like an old codger and stop being a "D to the ***banned**" now. Hopefully some of you who read this will at least believe me.
