Actually, Kirk used to be an official and a pretty good I might add. Kirk has been around the sport for over twenty years and he is pretty knowledgeable about rules and applications of rules. None of us agree with every call, but if you dont like the officiating get certified and make it better. Im sure you will be surprised at the amount of mistakes you make even as a veteran official.
Officials sometimes admit to being wrong and I look at this way. When I become a perfect (mistake free) coach then I expect them to be perfect as officials.
Now, dont think I will let up on these guys when I feel their wrong, but I also try and keep it in perspective that sometimes I dont have the same vantage point that they have. Remember were all human and these guys are not out there just to screw kids over. They are there because they love the sport more than most people and they are just trying to promote it as officials.
And yes, a front headlock could be considered a neutral position depending on the situation. But dont listened to me Ive only been reading the rule book for about 25 years now. Believe me it is a must read!
As for Kirk being a suck up. You dont Kirk do you?
