Wichita Southeast High School gymnasium is much larger than "a crackerbox as the other city league gyms".
Wichita North and Wichita East each have gymnasiums which were built in the 1930's, which are likely what you are referring to. Wichita South, Wichita Southeast, and Wichita West, all have gymnasiums which are approximately the same size and design, and were all built in the late 1950's to early 1960's.
Wichita Heights and Wichita Northwest have the newest facilities.
Randy Lemon, the former Goddard coach and current Southeast coach is attempting to grow a stagnant program at a basketball tradition rich school.
Certainly, these facilities do not have the amenities that the newer suburban high schools offer, however, give a good wrestler a mat in a quonset hut, preferably with a little heat, and the wrestler will persevere.
I am unaware of any high school facilities which provide theatre quality seating with stereo sound!
