No Fluke --sorry about the confusion on the FM frequency. Boy, you sure set me straight on that one! My point to the post is that KLOE is NOT the only radio station carrying high school wrestling. It is (carrying wrestling on radio) does seem to be a NW-NC Kansas "thing." And yes, I DO listen to KQNK 106.7 FM and 1530 AM.

That is about as good of blood lines as one can have. Does Doug Coach? I think I heard Fred does, but have never heard about Doug.

I believe that doug coaches at Burlington, colo. they are a really young team but have a really solid base. Doug has coached at Atwood , too, I think several years ago. he and baker at Hoxie are some of the Rocky Welton legacy.

Doug Duell has been coaching in Burlington, CO since at least the mid 1980's. He coached a friend who graduated from Burlington in 1988. And I too seem to recall he was in Atwood for a short stint as well.
Randy Bahe, Doug Duell and Kirk Baker all wrestled under Rocky Welton at Goodland in the early to mid 1970's. It's kind of neat seeing them all return to Goodland for the Holiday classic each year.

Few people know that Coach Woodford started his coaching career under Coach Welton in the early 80’s before taking over the Manhattan High program. I’m sure that some of the Goodland influence has rub off on the wrestlers from Manhattan. It’s amazing how intertwined that the Kansas wrestling heritage is.

I am a bit sketchy on this, but do know Coach Welton was in Oakley prior to Goodland and believe he coached current Concordia coach Doug Moore while there.
Did he coach Dale Samuelson there too?
Of course at Rocky's final stop he helped get Martin Segovia established.
Not a bad pedigree there, huh?
And didn't Rocky spend some time in Clay Center along the way too?

The University of Wyoming has a Barrett Duell (Redshirt Freshman) from Burlington, Colorado on their roster.
Barrett may be another son of Doug and an older brother to the current Duell wrestling at Burlington.
