I think as a parent you have to talk to your kids about effort why you need to give your best. Then you try to be patiant and wait for the desire build.
A man asked me last weekend what I do or say to make my 6 year old so aggressive on the mat? I told him if I knew the awnser to that all the kids in our club would wrestle that way. His older brother who is 12 dosnt respond the same as him. I believe all kids develope at differnt rates all you can do is be supportive and hope they learn the value of hard work and dedication.
Its hard not to compare to other kids with sports and grades. I know it is tough for me to do. We all want our kids to be successful people and avoid any mistakes that we've made ourselves but not everybody learns the easy way by listening. All a parent can do is pray for guidance and pray their kids pray for the same thing.
