It is interesting to read about what people think
about who is the best. In my opinion, the wrestlers in the 140 lb. class are no different
than any other weight class, for the most part.
You can take any given match between two competitive guys and one guy will win one match
and the other will win the next. All of these
wrestlers are capabale of beating one another on
any given day, they are that close. I think that
there is a lot of weight given to the state
champions, and deservingly so, but, if you stop
to think about it, it is just another tournament.
Many of you would have to agree that some of the
wrestlers had tougher tournaments than state.
This is supposed to be where the best wrestlers
end up at the end of the year, but that is not
the way it always works out. Some regionals are
much tougher than others. Take Duke in the NCAA
basketball tournament, this team is by far a
number one or at least in the top five in the
USA but got beat out. Wrestling is the same way.
Sometimes kids win one week and loose another.
Travis Martin beat Nick Johnson three straight
times, but lost the last time. If they were to
wrestle another time he might win. Thats what
happens when you are competive. Another good
example of that is also with Martin, this year
when he beat Bahe from Goodland. He had never
won and I think lost four straight times. I know
this is long winded but my point is that when we
try to guess who is the best at this and that
it probably will change very soon. Thanks.
