Richard- you don't know anything about Chapman do you? If you did, you would realize that the majority of students who go to school in Chapman do not live closer than 5 miles from Chapman. The city of Chapman has a population of 1,241 (2000 census report) yet has a 4A school.
We have over 100 students attend our school who live in Abilene and Junction City. We have families that live 5 miles from Clay Center but are still in the Chapman school district and attend our school. The Chapman school district covers over 500 square miles and has one of the largest busing system in the state.
There are some kids that go to a Chapman elementary school and later will switch to Abilene due to the fact they live closer to Abilene than Chapman. This was the case with the Wuthnow family. They attended school at Rural Center which is a Chapman elementary school located south of Abilene but since they live only a few miles from Abilene and over 15 miles from Chapman, they chose to go to school there. Our other elementary school district is north of Abilene and we have the same situation. However, the majority of students who attend the elementary schools will continue their education at Chapman.
Yes, we have lost some good wrestlers to Abilene but the reason's are NOT as simple as you imply, they concern family issues that should not be discussed on an open forum.

I can assure you Mr. Salyer, there is nothing wrong with the Chapman school district or is sports programs.
