I was going to wait and respond to and respond to this post tomorrow morning after I got to school and had a chance to look at the tape of the match, but because someone had to come on to this board and call one of my wrestlers an absolute fish and a dirty athlete I feel as though I need to respond in defense of my wrestler, my team, and my school. Did this wrestler get called for biting Stephen yes, should it of been called probably, did the official see it occur I don’t know. Was I upset yes, not at the official, not at my wrestler, not at Santiago, or at my AD when he informed me that this wrestler who worked all year would not have the opportunity to compete in the regional tourney. No I was just upset in general.
At the time when the DQ happened the score was 15-10. So that leaves me to question how you could say he didn’t have a chance. Yes there were 2 sets of teeth an upper and a lower. Could they of occurred from a bite yes, could they of come from someone pushing a forearm into an open mouth yes (which would be a legitimate cross face). The cross face didn’t draw blood as someone stated earlier.
As for him strutting around. I never once saw him strut. Yes he did remain at the tourney. Why may you ask did I allow him to stay at the tourney. To support his teammates, his friends and his wrestling family. It would be unfair to him for me to of made him leave and not give him the ability to watch his fellow Heights wrestlers compete.
Maybe I will post more after I have a chance to review the film tomorrow morning. I hope that everyone understands that I will not and have not ever coached my wrestlers to be dirty. One thing that I tell them to earn on the mat and in life is respect.
