Matt Noblet and Skyler Scott both did not wrestle at regionals for their teams-both are good kids that could not really keep up with cutting that much weight; hopefully, next year's new weight rules will help prevent this type of thing from happening as either the kids themselves or their coaches and parents were not able to prevent two good kids that have a great past and a great future from having to sit on the sidelines at state
you know, my kid decided two years ago that cutting weight was not very smart. His coach agreed. He comitted to staying in shape all year which is probably as hard as cutting anyway. He carries about 4 to 6 percent body fat eats well all season, and feels really strong this time of year, as well of physically, certainly mentaly. It seems to me that its the best way to go.
I agree with you just-a-dad. Cutting excessive weight gives the sport a bad name. I've known other kids in the past who ruined their high school career, cutting too much weight. It's simply unhealthy and no one can wrestle at their best when their body has little to no fuel!
