Fact Right Now: Still putting out some talent
Divison I
8 (4%) out of the 200 top ranked guys in Division I wrestling are from Kansas. That is not bad for a state that has less than 1% of the U.S. population. I think 10% of the NCAA finalist the last few years have Kansas on their High School Diploma. The coaches and the kids must be doing something right (sorry if I missed anyone)
Division II
Fact Right Now: Still putting out some talent
6 or (7.5%) of the 80 young men ranked in NCAA Division II have Kansas High School Diplomas (sorry if I missed anyone) not bad for a state that has less than 1% of the U.S. population
125 Pounds
1. Trevor Charboneau, Nebraska-Kearney - From Kansas
2. Rob McCabe, Adams State (Colo.)
3. Cody Garcia, Nebraska-Omaha - From Kansas
4. Ryon Mazzacco, Pittsburgh-Johnstown (Pa.)
5. Mike Compton, Ashland (Ohio)
6. Jamie Thomas, Shippensburg (Pa.)
7. Tyler Mumbulo, Upper Iowa
8. Nick Smith, Minnesota State-Mankato
I know 125 is one weight worth a quick mention as it has 3 of 16 athletes in it from Kansas!
I think Kansas overall from a former prep standpoint did very well in qualifying wrestlers.
