Well, another Schoolboy Duals has come and gone. And once again it was a succesful trip for the KS guys. 26 wrestlers made the trip to Indianopolis. The team was led by Coach Charles Knox who did an excellent job. He was assisted by two great guys; Aaron Miester and Danny Grater Jr. both of whom not only coached at the duals but also attended the Southern Plains camp and tournament the week before. If you ever have a chance to have Miester or Grater Jr. work with your young guy it will be time well spent.

In the Greco tournament we finished w/ a 4-3 dual record. We were drawn into a tough pool and unfortunately our 3-2 pool record put us in third in our pool and out of the Championship pool. All the kids stepped up and performed well. The highlight of the Greco tournament was our dual with Missouri that came down to the heavyweights. Wes Duer had to not only win but win with a pin in order for KS to move on and knock Mo out of the tournament. 10 seconds after the whistle blew Duer had the Mo kid on his back and secured the dual.

In Freestyle we faired better in pool play. We lost only to the eventually FS Champions PA #1. This sucess meant we were placed into a championship pool with the other top teams. We battled hard in the championship pool and actually gave everyone but Missouri a run for their money. Missouri tagged us pretty hard in the freestyle dual. We finished 8th.

Since this is a team dual I don't want to dwell alot on individual performance. However, Dapper Deshazer went undefeated in freestyle (even when having to wrestle up in his weight class on several occassion and deserves credit for that.

In addition, Kyle Detmer went undefeated in both styles and compiled a 16-0 combined record. To give you an idea how dominate Kyle was: the dual has an all tournament team for both greco and fs. Because of my fault Kyle's name didn't get turned in for a nomination for the greco all tournament team. Another kid was named at 125. Kyle had previously wrestled this kid in one of our duals and had teched him.

All the kids were great and we had no problems. If your wrestler was born in 1991 or 1992 and they didn't try out for the SB Dual team then they missed a great expierence.
