I just finished talking with Mike after he received phone calls and comments regarding comments on the video thread. This is his response. " To All of those whom I offended on the posting of the video, I want to apologize. That being said, there are several things I would like to say. First I want to make it clear that the posting of the video was in no way glorifying either the throw or the boy getting knocked unconscious. My intent rightly or wrongly was to respond to several people who had contacted me regarding the throw and incident. I must also admit rightly or wrongly that part of the intent was to also show what can happen to the person getting thrown Part of my thought was that the video could be used to help teach what to do when thrown. After hearing the comments, I can understand where some have been offended and I apologize. That being said, I want to clarify: there was no intent celebrating the young man getting hurt. The clip is exactly as videoed without edit. The reason for the 2nd video of the young man lying there was to give fact the he regained consiousness. I could have filmed longer, but those of us present were busy applauding the young man as he walked off the mat. I felt that this video could help coaches understand why it is important to teach young men and women what to do when being thrown. For those who have questions or comment feel free to call me.
