I don't think Shamrock "slipped." I think he was "slipping" for his ankle lock, which he almost had. He did look very sound physically speaking, probably his best in some time. I do think he's either lost the competitive edge or the sport has grown so much that the up and comers are taking over.
Kind of like the "Tiger Effect." Those that haven't heard, it's like Tiger broke through and everyone wanted to be like Tiger. So they bust their humps and lo and behold, they are playing at Tiger's level. As Tiger raised the bar so to speak in golf, Shamrock has done the same for UFC.
As for the light heavies, I was impressed with their heart and UFC's decision to sign both, but I was not impressed with their strategy. If they want to stand toe to toe, their careers and brains will be shortlived. Ladell and others have devistating knees that can come to your chin in an instant and others have excellent kicking power that will rubberize your legs.
Anyone getting the Colture/Ladell fight? If so, tape it, I'd like a copy.
