Is the glass half empty of half full? It's a matter of perspective. I like to think that allowing women to compete in Olympic wrestling competition can only help. It legitimizes the sport and sends the message to young girls that such dreams can become a reality because other women have turned their dreams into reality. I hope USA Wrestling and USGWA will share their membership and participation numbers so that we somehow determine if we have more girls wrestling since the recent Olympic games were held. The sport has such potential for growth but we'll have to accept that it will always grow at a slower pace than we would like. We need to support programs like the Kansas Krusaders and support tournaments that offer girls divisions if we want to contribute to the success and continued growth of women's wrestling.
