If Great Bend can put together a healthy enough team I wouldn't be suprised to see them walk away with the team trophy again. They are stout throughout all their weights. The kids are just starting to get their weight right and gettin their energy up. Great Bend has been riddles with the injury bug this year. I guess we will see what happens.

SM East could put 5-6 in the finals.

Sm East and Eudora are looking really good this year so I wouldn't count either out as possible champion.

I would like to say congrats to my boys from Great Bend on winning this tournament for a second year in a row. Coach Muth has really improved the wrestling program at GBHS. I am not sure about the team scores, I just called my cousin who wrestles for Great Bend and he said they won but he was not sure about the team scores.

Sounds like SME has a pretty good team, but came up way short of having 5-6 in the finals.

Eight in the semis, but only 3 made it through. Lost 4-3 in the 160 semis. You got me on the 5-6 prediction.

Great Bend had 4 in the finals and the 5th in the semi-finals lost in the last 22 seconds was winning 2-0 gave up a locked hands and reversal and lost. Also they were without their varsity 145, 152, 215. Two of which are returning state qualifiers.

They were very good and good sportsmen as well. Coach Muth has been very impressive since taking over. It is always nice to have an alumni in charge of your program. It was weird to see Bahe in the Red & Black, but I am glad that his family was able to settle in such a welcoming community.

We are very glad to have him on our team! Coach Muth had concerns about him fitting in with the fellow wrestlers. But that was not a problem at all, from the second he arrived at Great Bend he was welcome. It is nice to also have the wisdom of his father, if Coach Muth is ever in need of assistance. Its amazing to see how far Coach Muth has brought the program. My sophmore year, the year he took over, we had 16 kids in the wrestling room. We qualified 4 to state. The next year we qualified 4 and had 3 of the 4 place. Then the next year we qualified 5, then 8 last year. This year they are poised to carry many of their wrestlers into the post season and possibly place very high in the rankings. In my opinion Coach Muth could very well be the coach of the year. It is always easy to take great wrestlers and make them into a great team but to take a hand full of decent wrestlers and make them into a top program in the state is very tough and I give kudos to Coach Muth!!

Mouse,

You still talk too much! J/K You should be proud of them. They wrestled well this weekend and we appreciate having them come to Paola each year. Good Luck the rest of the season.

Remember him well from our kids wrestling days, just making sure that I had the correct Muth. Thanks.
