This should be a good competitive tournament. USA cards not required, meaning our friends from the south should be up to add to the competition. Track wrestling, satellite weigh-ins, NEW IMPROVED BIGGER MEDALS, Oklahoma competition, should make for a Great Tournament. Hope to see ya there.

Chad

How did you get around the USA cards? Our club is looking to invite Oklahoma kids, without buying a USA card.

We have purchased secondary insurance through our Rec. Center to cover all participants wrestling.

Re: Ark City - Battle on the Border - 11/29/11 02:06 PM

This is very interesting and I'm just currious...
But in order for it to be a USAKS sanctioned event doesn't everyone have to have a USA wrestling card?
And so if a child is hurt the USA wrestling insurance will not cover him it will fall on to the additional insurance purchased through the Rec Center?

If soo...
This is a neat way to allow out of state kids to come to your tournament!

Can you tell me if there is another weigh in time for Novice? Why is it on Friday when they don't actually wrestle until Sunday?

Thank you!

If the tournament is schedule and ran as an official tournament USA wrestling will insure you for an unsanctioned event. Ark City has did everything that I can tell where you are still covered. I believe that Spex had a post earlier asking about insurance and Richard had posted info on the insurance if you want to look back on what it covers.

Remember that with all insurances, that there is still a deductable and when an accident occurs you need to put down your USA info as well as your regular ins. at that time. Don't wait to do anything.

Rules 4-5-1 and 4-5-3 are as follows:

All sanctioned tournaments will hold a weigh-in. The weigh-in procedures shall be determined by the tournament director. All participants shall have the opportunity to weigh-in at the same time. No weigh-in shall be prior to twenty four (24) hours before the published tournament start time. Wrestlers shall wear a competition style singlet at weigh-in.

Re: Ark City - Battle on the Border - 12/02/11 02:28 AM

The reason for weighing in on Friday with everybody else is...This is not a qualifying tournament, a National Tournament, Olympics, or even an Open weekend tournament. This is Novice, these kids are beginners and should NOT be pulling weight. It is too learn how to wrestle. If the Adults involved can not be trusted to be honest and put the kids at a decent weight then shame on them. It is also easier to do it all at once, especially with the satellite weigh-ins.

Are you allowing any satellite weigh ins? Goddard would be willing to run one if your doing it.

If you look on the NOVICE tournament flyer it does say weighins are Friday from 6:30pm - 8:00pm. I think this was an accidental carry over from the OPEN flyer. Because, below that, it says to email the weights by 5:00pm Saturday. Novice wrestlers should be weighed in, skin and nail checks verified by their own club coaches. And like Beeson said,...If coaches want to set a terrible example for kids by lying and cheating, then shame on them,...
