Re: Toughest Weight at the Bobcat - 12/28/04 04:59 PM

I don't know how to format this thing, but it should read weight, name, school, class, 2004 placement, and ranking.

Re: Toughest Weight at the Bobcat - 12/30/04 11:51 PM

It reads just how you say. Thank you for the breakdown it's very interesting to see how the brackets are set. 152, 171, and 189 all looked extremely loaded this year.

Re: Toughest Weight at the Bobcat - 12/31/04 12:44 AM

finals predictions for what i think are the three toughest weights...
152 erisman vs. bailes
171 malloy vs. sonderegger
189 gonzalez vs. cisper

i'll take erisman, malloy and cisper in these matches. but they could all easily go either way.

Re: Toughest Weight at the Bobcat - 12/31/04 02:15 PM

189 if Gonzales and Pursel are on the same side. I would not think it's a given that Gonzales would beat Pursel.

Re: Toughest Weight at the Bobcat - 12/31/04 10:36 PM

yeah, Pursel vs. Cisper would be my guess for the finals match
Posted By: KAS

Re: Toughest Weight at the Bobcat - 12/31/04 10:38 PM

and @ 171 Malloy vs Wiscombe
Posted By: brentvoth

Re: Toughest Weight at the Bobcat - 12/31/04 10:53 PM

yea, both of those brackets are tough enough i could definitly be wrong. dickinson(Turner) and born(olathe north) could both make some noise at 189 too. although i dont think either of them will make the finals. do you think pursel or gonzales is good enough to beat cisper?

You can add Jed Mamie from STA to that stacked 171 bracket too.

paola's stewart wrestled 189 at the ON invite...did he certify there? does anyone know? becuase that could change how this tournament looks quite a bit at those 2 weights.

Re: Toughest Weight at the Bobcat - 01/04/05 06:38 PM

Many of the weights are incorrect in the rankings. Mike Mancuso of Junction City will be wrestling 130 as he has all year. He is the defending Basehor Champion with the following placers lined up behind him last year:
2nd)Hulse (Turner)-3rd in 5A
3rd)Baker (BV)-5A state champion
4th)Briggs (Garden City)-3rd in 6A
5th)Geske (Abilene)-4A state placer?
6th)Deeds (Goodland)-4A state champion
Lots of these guys are back so it should be a good battle.

Dexter Deeds is 135. There is a Deeds at 130 but that is younger brother Aaron. Dexter should win his bracket.

Tyler Gonzalez hurt his knee and may not wrestle this weekend. Also, I would have Hoffman of Shawnee Heights in the HVY final over Rittinghouse.

Re: Toughest Weight at the Bobcat - 01/10/05 11:59 PM

I know it was a exibition match. But I think Erisman has been beat by Taplin this year. And I also saw where Taplin beat Irvine this past weekend. Does anyone know if Taplin won by fall or a decision.

thanx joe keeler that was really confusing me because rankings still have him 4th at 135 also and then this i was getting really confused. its not like he'll do much with that bracket ya know its not as tough as 152 but still a decently tough bracket but that raises another question...if he's at 145 then where has jeremy kemp gone????????????

Re: Toughest Weight at the Bobcat - 01/12/05 02:51 PM

Eden may get a chance at a rematch with Artist of Glenwood. If you remember they met in finals at 145 last year. Going into overtime tied 1-1 Eden missed a take down and Artist capitalized. Looks like Artist has been dominating in Iowa and goes against top ranked kid from Lewis Central thursday night. This Poll shows 171 as the class of this meet but throw ( Taplin, Artist, or Eden ) in and any one of them might be in the finals at 171 also. Might be interesting.

Silver Lake has just been added to the Bobcat

that they were planning to attend. This adds
another state ranked team and a number of
quality wrestlers.

Re: Toughest Weight at the Bobcat - 01/15/05 06:43 AM

I like the fact Silver Lake got in on last minute and out of the cancelled St. Mary's which used to be one of the toughest tournaments in the state about 5-6 years ago.

BTW...Irvine had 1 loss coming into the Bobcat, Taplin pinned him in the finals of Herington last week in about 30 seconds.

Speaking of Taplin...anybody know the background of the Glenwood guy he has in the finals?

You are absolutely correct, I am not normal, have many faults, and obviously have a warped sense of humor.

No harm intended at my apparent poor attempt at humor.
