Peterson beat Bowen by, if I remember right, one point at the very beginning of the season. So I would expect the match to be a little different. You have to put Ellison at 135 that's a given. I also would have to say Eck will beat Marvio. I've seen Eck wrestle a few times this year, and he is just phenomenal!

I would say the winner for 152 match will depend on the Judd Schroeder and Scott Elliott match. Whoever wins that match should go on to win the whole thing.

I picked the State Champions, none of which you posted will be IMO. They probably won't be the State Championship team either, thus why I did not mention any of them.

Re: 4A Champions Pick - 02/24/06 09:54 AM

What does IMO mean? To say Bowen, Seimer and Hynick won't be in the state chamionships is outrageous. The rest of them also have good shots at placing. Rose Hill has a great shot at top 7. No way am I saying they will win by any means, but they will have an amazing showing, compared to last year.

Well Alex you were pretty close on the individuals but your team picks totally sucked

o ya baby rose hill thrid at state beating columbus, clay center and colby, and goodland. Nice predictions on the team placeing. Next year i would bet they win state. Sparr, Canale, Bowen, Hynick. Will be state champs next year and forsberg will win it or get thrid.

i'll put my money on Andale to repeat next year. Cox, Eck, Schroeder, and the younger Fisher will all be back.

Okay so my team race was pretty bogus, I did manage to get the individual's pretty close. I mean going 11/14 on the individuals is pretty good right?

The biggest surprise to me was Logan Dreiling winning the title, after not qualifying last year, then coming back from the defeat at regionals to Brent Fisher then beating him 5-2.

Congrats to all who won and lost, be proud you won, or be proud you were better than all those who stayed home.

Alex

I must say that I called Andale winning it!!! Just didn't expect it to be such a dominated tourney.

Andale really stepped up at State, after finishiing 3rd at Regionals, then winning State in a running away fashion, very nice job Andale.

Re: 4A Champions Pick - 02/27/06 08:12 AM

They got 3rd at regionals? Wow! I bet they are the first state championship team to not have a regional trophy.

Re: 4A Champions Pick - 02/27/06 08:22 AM

Wrong.

In 2003, Hutchinson lost the regional title to Garden City, but went on to win the state trophy.

But don't some regionals give a 3rd place trophy?

Nope, first and second only. At least it's been that way since the '80s

Re: 4A Champions Pick - 03/01/06 02:43 PM

Alex, Andale really didn't step it up, they just did what was expected. They have quality over quantity, and it was not really a surprise for me that they put four in the finals. State tournaments are tough enough that quality counts over the numbers game. You can win a title without finalists, but it's rare. Abilene wasn't even on the top 10 board on Friday, but managed to come through the back door better than Colby or Goodland who qualified about the same number of kids. That's where the numbers kick in. Ulysses, for example, put three of their five in the semis', and may have looked to the casual observer like they were making a run, but didn't have the numbers coming through the back to stay there.

In 2003 Abilene was 5th at regional and State Champs
In 2005 Clay Center was 3rd at regional and State Champs.
In 4A I'm sure there are plenty more.
