Cadet National Duals - 05/12/04 05:54 PM

Just wondering who and at what weight are there wrestlers who want to be on the Cadet National Team that is going to Greely Colorado? Team consideration will be done from the placement at the State Tournament in Junction City. Coach Erickson and Fergola will be doing this at the State Tournament and then the whole staff will take into consideration where we need additional wrestlers. We want to have One Greco-Roman and Two Freestyle Teams, so there is plenty of room for 2-3 wrestlers in every weight. I think we can have a very competitive team if we train hard and prepare ourselves for success. My definition for "Lucky" is when opportunity meets preparation. The opportunities will arise June 21-26 so let's be prepared to get Lucky and prove to the National what Kansas wrestling is all about.
Coach Fergola and USAWrestling-Kansas has entrusted me with the job of leading this team. I plan to work hard and I believe we have the talent to do well and place high or even win this thing. It will take a group effort, it is a team event, even though you wrestle one at a time on the mat. Good Luck at State and keep in touch I will try to develop some game plans, tournament goals, and voluntary practice site and times for those willing.

Great it looks like we are going to have some good lighter weights. Always a good way to start a dual. Altman, Perez, Shumate.... Are there any others out their......

Do you have a lineup for your team yet? Is Altman going 91 or 98?

We will not make a lineup till after State, that is the determining factor of who makes the team. He wrestled 91, I think at Southern Plains in Marshall, Mo so I would think that he would be there.

The Cadet Duals line ups will be determined during and after the Kansas FS/GR State Tournament in Junction City. The Cadet Duals staff will start to piece together the rosters after viewing the top place winners at state. The Southern Plains Cadet Regional in Topeka will also produce a few members. The final say is determined by the coaching staff. Hope that helps.
