Mr. Salyer, it looks as if St. Thomas Aquinas got a warm welcome to Wichita Wrestling. They found out what the rest of us know , Andale and Maize are tough and throw in a Garden City team. Zack Hentzen good job.

STA represented the Kansas City area just fine. Good tournament by all the kids. No team scores kept. But 3- 1st and 9 -2nd's is OK. Keeping working STA guys - W.I.T.
3 - 1st 9 - 2nd

Wichita wrestling is very good and it is well respected by Aquinas and the rest of the teams in the Kansas City area. There are some great wrestlers in Wichita. Zach Hentzen did do a great job in beating Mark Millstead one of the top wrestlers in Kansas in a very close match. The Aquinas team probably feels that it did not have its best day but still they took 3 firsts and 9 seconds. That is not too bad and at least four of those nine second places were pretty close matches.

Not that it matters but 3-0 is 4 or 5 and -0. And 2-1 is 3 or 4 and 1 records. Some team did not bring a full team so all the weights did not have 12 kids. I liked the format - plenty of matches for all kids.

Smokey , I am sorry you took exception with my observation, It was meant as a compliment to those 2 schools and GC. Because they were as good against BC.So we got a good dose of Andale too.STA has got all the 5 A school 's attention. BC fans are looking forward to the State Tourney. We know STA will be there in force

This not the place to make a personal attack... If you got issues with an official then call the KSHSAA 785-273-5329 and ask for Mr. Bowden. A moderator should remove this post!

How was this tourney formatted this year? In the past it's been a dual tourney with different formats.

this year you started in a pool of three, the winners of the pools went to a 4 man round robin, and the runners up went to their own 4 man round robin. The 3rds got two more matches if possible as well. It was definitely a different set up and there was some confusion with a very bizarre rotation for the round robins. Plenty of very high quality competition though throughout--
