There has been a lot of negativity and finger pointing this week. We all know that we often deal with kids that have explosive personalities. Wrestling, right or wrong, often gives kids with these personalities an outlet. As my AD told me earlier this year..."wrestlers are a little different...coaches too. Basketball people are pretty much the same mold, but wrestlers and their coaches come in all types!" You know, hes right!
People seem to thrive on negativity and sensationalism, yet last weekend, time after time, I saw kids and coaches show integrity and class in the face of extreme disappointment. I saw kids win with dignity, honoring those that they had beaten with handshakes, hugs, and a slap on the back. That is what we need to remember and emphasize. Those actions were not a rarity, but almost an every match occurance. Friendships were made and respect was earned last weekend that will last a lifetime, I am sure.
