6-13-07 No agenda in Iceland
Todays entry was done with the help of Topeka, Kansas freshman Larry Perez.
As stated before Iceland is very expensive. Today we really experienced the high costs of being in Iceland. From food to excitement everything had a costly price.
The morning started as if yesterday had never ended. During this time of year in Iceland it does not get dark. All during the night I kept waking up to the bright light thinking that I had missed the free breakfast the hotel provided for us from 7am to 10am. This was the only free thing that we received while in Iceland. The breakfast consisted of your typical hotel breakfast; bread, waffles, cereal, coffee, juice, and milk.
At around 12:00 we decided to explore Reykjavik by foot cause we could not really afford anything else. At every shop it seemed we were shopping at the airport. An Iceland t-shirt cost around $40.00. So buying anything here is not going to happen. Most of the wrestlers decided to walk around and check out the town. A few of the wrestlers checked out an entertainer that was from Australia, as well as seeing some massive boats. The last thing to do in Iceland was to get some supper. The local grocery store was pretty much the cheapest place to get anything. This was a popular spot for all of our team. Four of the wrestlers decided to go in together on some hotdogs. All together for 15 hotdogs it cost them about $18.00.
This was about all that Iceland had to offer us. With no agenda we were free to do as we wanted as long as we paid for it. Most of us are ready to return to the states and will do so tomorrow. We are scheduled to leave the hotel at 1:30 pm for the airport for our flight back to Baltimore.
