Just wondering what makes us all like the sport of wrestling. For me it was the one on one competition. Being able to control my own destiny was what made me strive to become better. As a coach I try to teach fundamentals and see kids really develop into good wrestlers and hopefully giving them a feeling of self worth. Wrestling is a great sport and onethat each of us can learn from and enjoy. The friends I made during the season was also a good feeling. Cheering for everyone and just wanting to see great matches is what I am in it for.

Community, sense of accomplishment, one-on-one action, friendships, action and intensity. But I have to say the real reason is because my kids love it and I have grown to love it.

When I first started to wrestle, I liked it because I could beat a kid up and not get in trouble.

Come to think of it, that's why I still like it (I was an angry little kid).

I am not a fan of any sport whose outcome is controlled so much by the officiating. Not very many wrestling matches' winners are determined by the officiating. 99 times out of 100, the wrestler that performs better wins. Can you honestly say that about basketball? Some basketball games are painful for me to watch. One team gets a big lead, all of a sudden they get called for breathing on an opposing player, hence giving the other team a chance to catch up and make it a close game.

I think a wrestlingmatch's outcome is for the most part determined by the two combatants, not the referee. Hence, when my kids come off the mat, they are not able to make excuses, and blame the other guys on the team.

That's not to say that there aren't matches that get determined by a bad call. Referees are human, and as long as the bad call is an honest mistake in judgement, and not a grudge call against a coach or kid that they don't like, they get a pass from me. I always remember that things even out, for every bad call that goes against you, you always seem to get a bad call that helps you also.

I like it cause you get to beat kids that you dont like legally, its all about you nobody else can get the glory, you cant blame the match on anyone but yourself and you get to make fun of b-ball players as much as you can.

I liked it because i play other sports and bust my butt all the time and other team mates they just don't care and so when i started wrestling i liked it because i didn't have to depend on anyone but myself.

I enjoy it cause I think wrestling teaches a lot. Of course the physical part you learn cordination and agility. The mental part you can use when you get older as far as making it through life when things get rough you don't give in.

I love the excitement, the roar of the crowd when a kid wins a really close match. I get a chuckle when the crowd boos at a call that was obviously right. I love raising a kids hand and seeing the smile on their face, I like telling kids they did a good job even if they lost a match.

All of the above for me. i love to wrestle because it is a fight and it isa one person thing to. you dont have to think is the other team mate going to screw this up for me or that kind of stuff. it is all about one person(yourself) and i think that is great. plus you get to meat all kinds of people and most of them are great tords you too. but in all it is just the best sport anywhere.

I like it because it is the only sport that is non-stop action and when your wrestling you are in complete concentration for those 5 or 6 minutes......and you get to basically beat a kid up and no one gets mad at you.
