No problem it has been obivious over the years why you guys do what you do. I just found out today from reading a post at the mat that Folkstyle Nationals are on one of the days Nate is scheduled to take the ACT so he won't be able to go there, but I am very grateful you guys do what you do. I still hope folks get to go to as many preseason tournaments as they can, and so far I am willing to stil work on the bus and getting kids to the Preseason folkstyle nationals in Des Moines, unfortunately, I have only had 3 so far indicate they would be interested in a charter bus. I am still willing to work on this for others but need more interest shown than this. We will be at Fall Brawl though and know it will be a top notch quality tournament.

I know nothing about Nate, but I do know that some students take the ACT or SAT more than once to improve their scores.

How right you are,

Nathan is planning on taking it 3X as all 3X's have been paid for, he has now taken it twice. Thanks to Richard for pointing out the first time he took it. If you want to know the third time he is going to take it I will be glad to provide that time as well. If it helps I can also provide the scores, but for some reason I don't think that should be required.

Oh yea Chief, Nathan told me this evening he had a good time talking to you at Wellington after he went down after testing.

seems like ACTs and sports never get along. I know the Colby Dual Tournament is always plagued by the ACT & SAT exams students leaving on day 2. I even have my own ACT sports story. On my second try, I thought I would do much better. I even studied a little bit the week before. Then I played nearly every snap of a double-overtime high school football game the night before, and my new score showed it.
good luck to Nathan and all the other athletes taking ACTs, they are likely to have more bearing over their lives than any sporting event.

Most colleges suggest taking the ACT at least twice, my son did and improved remarkably the second time. The difference meant an academic grant in aid that paid his tution his freshman year.

The ACT - Should You Test Again?

Should You Test Again?

There are no limitations to how many times you can take the ACT. But how do you know if you should take it again?

You should definitely consider retesting if:

You had any problems during the test, such as misunderstanding the directions, running out of time, or not feeling well.

You aren't satisfied that your scores accurately represent your abilities.

You see a discrepancy between your ACT scores and your high school grades.

You have completed coursework or an intensive review in subject areas included in the ACT since you tested.

How will you do on a retest? ACT research shows that of the students who took the ACT more than once:

55% increased their composite score on the retest
23% decreased their composite score on the retest
22% had no change in their composite score on the retest

Score choice and the ACT

If you take the test more than once, you can select the test date with your best scores and have them sent to the colleges you choose.

You cannot select test scores from different test dates to construct a new record to be reported.

Richard, now that really is a great post, I wish I would have had a couple of weeks ago, we will use it in the spring when the test is taken one last time. Now before rumors start, we are leaving for Tennessee this week as my mother is very ill and declining, a lot of things up in the air, including wrestling this week. My wife has a concert Friday night, (free by the way for those that want to come, 902 George Washington Blvd, Wichita at Mosaic) and we are leaving for Tennessee right after the concert, but folks will likely have an opportunity to see a certain wrestler on the mat this season if they want.
