No, we will not be having a satellite weigh-ins for the Tournament of Champions in Salina this year. We will be having weigh-ins at the Bicentennial Center from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Friday night and 6:30-7:30 a.m. on Saturday morning.

Why not have a few in the major areas?
Im sure plenty of clubs would do it and maybe they could even pay an official to supervise a weigh in and alot of people could save alot of $$$$.

Rich, I would also like to echo highcrotch's post. Remote weigh-in have been a great way to reduce the expense for many families especially during these tough times. If your concerns are around integrity, I think this could be mitigated by having a district rep or paid official present and oversee them. If you have other concerns I would love to visit with you to learn more. Looking at the pros vs cons, remote weigh-ins are a great addition to KS Wrestling!

This is crap. Can you say money, money, money, money. Salina wants you to spend the night so you will spend in Salina. When is enough enough. I would hate to miss Salina but this really disappoints me. Remote weight ins for Salina is a great idea. I would like to hear a good reason for not having them!

How many "satellite" weigh-ins do Tulsa, Big Horn, Liberty, Topeka State have? Talk about money! Why is State held in the crapital instead of a more nuetral location?

I'm sorry to hear that some of you are disappointed in us not having satellite weigh-ins this year. This is not a change we made from prior year's tournaments as we have always had weigh-ins at the Bi-Center. While satellite weigh-ins is something that we will look at for next years tournament, for this year we will be having weigh-ins from 6:30-8:30 on Friday night and from 6:30-7:30 Saturday morning at the Bi-Center as we have in the past.

I'm of the opinion that if we are going to have satellite weigh-ins it needs to be stated clearly in the tournament flyer that we mail out in December. That flyer goes out to all Kansas clubs as well as to clubs in Missouri, Nebraska, Oklahoma, and Colorado. To change the weigh-in procedures now would not be fair to those clubs, who are going off the information in the flyer.

We always strive to put on a great tournament with top caliber competition that people are happy with when they have left. We will continue to do that this year and in the years to come. If you have questions or concerns I encourage you to call or email me. My contact information is listed on the tournament flyer and on our website, www.salinawrestling.com/2010ToC.htm.

Rich, i wouldn't worry about it? Everyone is still Going to come and its still going to one of the best in Kansas. Ya just can't please everyone. Satellite weigh-ins are quite convenient but It just doesn't work for everyone. And to me thats alright. I can't hardly believe your missing out on that many entries due to the extra night of staying in a hotel. And well were about 2 1/2 hours out and have just made it one long day for many years now 8 years to exact. See you soon

No we will not be using Trackwrestling this year, although next year we will hopefully be going to an online enrollment system for our tournament.

satellite is the way to go! No excuse not to do it!!! The clubs from out of state could be notified. Not an easy task, but would be well worth it. Would be in the best interest of the kids' time and the parent's wallets!!

Before you JustSayIt, maybe you should JustThinkIt, make sure that it makes sense. Plenty of reasons not to do it, #1 They don't want to. Let them run their tourney the way they want, you have the option not to go. As for me and mine....we will be there.

I have had several calls and emails asking about whether we were going to be giving the 0.9 of a pound at weigh-in again this year. We will once again be giving the .9 of a pound weight allowance. So if your wrestler is in the 52 lb. weight class, as long as he weighs in at 52.9 lbs. he has made weight.

I also want to point out another piece of information on the flyer. I am requesting that you send in the names two people responsible for picking up the coaches packet. In the past couple of years we have had increasing incidents of a person from a club picking up the coaches packet when that responsibility should have been left to someone else. While this should be a club issue, there has been a greater frequency of the coach, club leader, etc. taking their frustrations out on the lady/ladies distributing the coaches packet. Hopefully this will alleviate those problems. Thanks.

Rich,

What address should the checks be mailed to? I'm a little slow and cannot find it anywhere on the flyer.
