It was reported in the Kansas City Star on Saturday 4/17/10 that on Friday 4/16/10 the NCAA announced that Kansas City is one of the five finalists to host at the new Sprint Center either the 2013 or 2014 NCAA Division I Wrestling Championships. Kansas City is in the running with Des Moines, Oklahoma City, Omaha and St. Louis. The Star also reported that the last time Kansas City hosted the tournament was in 2003 at Kemper Areana.

why isn't Wichita ever mentioned in any of these things? Wichita would be good, as would Sioux Falls, and The Twin Cities. But having it in the heart of America Kansas City would be good; It would give guys like Ty Caldwell, and any other Home Grown Kansans a little extra cheering section.

why isn't Wichita ever mentioned in any of these things? Wichita does not have a facility (arena) large enough to host the event and no Division I program to handle the administrative duties associated with the event.

This would be so SWEET to have the NCAA's at the Sprint Center! Hopefully if we DO get it there our "state series" can be altered in an effort to bring out ALL of the Kansas fans!

I think the new arena or Hartman would be a great venue for Division II's.

That would be great to see the Division II wrestling tournament in Wichita. I would like to see the NAIA wrestling in Wichita or Kansas City some year.
