Every year, the Hays Daily News has predictions of the 3-2-1A State tourney. Two newspaper guys and two radio guys pick each weight class and top 3 teams. I can't get beaten by newspaper people! Here's my picks for each weight class. Feel free to poke holes in my predictions. I'll take any advice:

103: Trey Francka, Chase Co...wrestling very well and earned a nice regional championship
112: Clay Mulligan, Scott City...has already beaten Risewick of Norton twice. Those two will be in the finals
119: Dylan Schumacher, TMP...duh
125: Calvin Ochs, Hoxie...very tough decision. Calvin is wrestling well plus Humphrey and Hoehn are on the same side
130: Troy Bainter, Norton...double duh
135: Tagen Lambotte, Rossville...looking forward to finally watching this freshman
140: Kale Newell, Smith Center...Broeckelman from Norton is tough to pick against, but Newell's had the upper hand
145: Ky Biddle, Burden Central..tough last year. His side of the bracket is difficult
152: Tyler McMichael, Burden Central...another tough Burden Central wrestler. This will be a fun weight class
160: Tug Keiswetter, Norton...back-to-back for Tug
171: Spencer Shirk, Norton...on the same side as Eaton from Smith Center, who may still be dealing with knee issues
189: Tate Omli, Ell-Saline...what an all-around athlete!
215: Sione Siale, Chaparrel...the most difficult weight class for me to pick. Also like Hayes of Scott City and Guthmiller from Sainty
285: Dillon Salmans, Hoxie...should rebound to win #2

Teams:
1. Norton
2. Hoxie
3. Rossville

Let the debating begin....

Mike,
Nice to see your picks and hard to argue with any of them as they are all capable of bringing home a title...........however, I will say that at 125 the winner between Hoehn and Humphey will win that title. And I predict Hayes form Scott City to win 215. Should be some awesome final matches as well as semi-final matches. Good luck to all the kids this coming weekend.

Without having seen Newell wrestle, I will go on a limb and say that Alex Thibault will win 140....

I'll throw in a couple "longshots".... I thought these kids looked very tough last weekend in Goodland, and would be worth keeping an eye on in Hays.

Terrell @135
Croft @ 152
Herl @ 189

Why is Bainter a lock at 130, who are the losses to?

So, you have Norton with six in the finals and three champs yet they only score 121. You get 18 points for making the finals alone minus the bonus points.

Yes that is what the scoring came to. The scoring was 22 for first, 18 for second, 14 for third, 12 for 4th, 9 for 5th, and 7 for 6th. No bonus points were added because I will just assume that each wrestler wins by decision. For wrestlers who did not place it was 2 points for a frontside win and 1 point for a backside victory.

i am also thinking the semi final match at 125 against Humphrey and Hoehn is going to be one of the best.

Congrats to Coach Curt Brecheisen and the Rossville Wrestling Team and their 3rd place finish at the 321A State Tourney. It was the first Top 3 finish for the Dawgs in their history. Also, congrats to assistant Coaches Courtney Horgan and Cody Lambotte, who are previous 321A State placers. The Rossville Wrestling Family should be very proud of their boys.
