Found the entire match of the 3a 1997 HWT Title match. It is in the middle of a video for John Burlew who was announcing the telecast for PBS.

Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RKU6I-g63Y0

The title of this topic should have been this is what any weight class wrestler should do!

I have read poster on this forum say that Boyle may be the best Kansas high school heavyweight wrestler of all time! This film is a pretty good indication of why they say that.

He was a man among boys! No disrespect to anybody here, but not sure there is a heavyweight in the state this year that could have made it out of the first period with that beast!

The kid that got beat went on to wrestle at Hays and I believe is a Kansas Coach now. I want to know how the kid that won did in college?

The Chase County hwt made it out of the first period with him at state that year. He was the only one, though.

Great to see a HWT shoot a Hi-C and run the half.

If I remember correctly, Jeff Boyle played football at the University of Wyoming, then later for the Cincinnati Bengals. Last I saw him he was on the sidelines as the strength and conditioning coach for Marshall University, but that was many years ago. I bet coach Mann could tell us.

The fact that girls are forced to wrestle at state in the middle of the week is laughably sexist.

looking at that, i would have loved to see boyle and sonny manley go at it. both smallish hwt, with tons of power.

Boyle pnned everyone except 2 in the 1st period senior year. The only points he allowed were some escapes (cut them to get td's) & a penalty point. He played football at Wyoming. Started noseguard as a true freshman. Was with the Bengals for a season before a career ending knee injury. Went to Marshal to get his masters degree. Currently in kc and is a business man. A very humble person. Proud to call him a friend. PS: I take credit for the hi-c. He used to make me stay after practice to drill takedowns to work quickness. I was a 145 pounder!

did you really call Boyle a "smallish" Hwt. I have never heard Jeff Boyle called small. He weighed 260 lbs. his senior year.

260 and he still looked smaller than the kid he wrestled!

I wrestled the same years as Jeff, in 321a he was definitely fun to watch, he wrestled & moved like a middle weight, but he weighed 260. I have not seen a HWT that i feel compares to this man. I am glad i was a light weight, i sure wouldn't have been thrilled to have to wrestle him. On the mat a beast off the mat as nice of Guy you can meet.

Jeff had the strongest grip ever. Once he got a hold of you, you weren't going anywhere. He had the best technique for a big man. That guy could throw you or hit takedowns on you all day.

He won nationals, of course. Did he pin everyone there too? Just curious.
