WOW?! AllAround, assuming everything happened as you've detailed (and I have no doubt about your side btw), you and Mason were treated very poorly and the club in question should be ashamed of the way you all were treated. Mason is a great kid and absolutely willingly helps other kids often. VERY mature and selfless thing to do IMO.

You gotta have your kid where you feel he is best suited to progress and where you all feel most comfortable for sure! Their loss big time!

Btw, fwiw, we've taken an informal vote here and determined that the "we" of the club in question are a bunch of sub-standard humans lacking in several areas!

Know exactly the situation now. I can't say that I would expect anything different from this situation. Let's just say that Mason should always be welcome with the club he is in now whether that is what he chooses in the future or not.

WOW! Ahhh, completely different deal here Sport. See how they sound different; "Kansas" and "Oklahoma"? Heck, they're even spelled differently. Oklahoma has their own qualifiers, for which Kansas kids also should not be able to participate in....For OBVIOUS reasons.

OMG?! Should they also ALL wear earth-toned warm-ups AND singlets? OR maybe bright/florescent orange?

Every club DOES have the same rights. Clubs in Oklahoma have the right to wrestle in OKLAHOMA qualifiers. Clubs in Kansas have the right to wrestle in KANSAS qualifiers. A regular/normal tournament is ANOTHER discussion. Even then, it is NOT a club's "RIGHT" to do anything.....short of exist.

It always amazes me about wrestling. I have been coaching for a long time (since mid 80's) and things don't change. Parents (adults) are really the ones that destroy this outstanding sport. We as coaches (parents) need to realize that this is for the young athletes to mature and become outstanding contributers to our society as adults. When things like this happen it just shows me the maturity level of some adults and I often wonder where they were led to believe that it is all about them. This sport demands so much respect and discipline from our young athletes that the only things we as parents should do is let them wrestle and help to guide them.

Believe me, I COMPLETELY understand the "simIlarities". That's what I thought about your post (Still do), but then I thought I'd give it a shot. Obviously should have went with my gut feeling.

By the way Wednesday is suppose to be open night, and yes they have other kids that do not live in our town come in and practice. Thanks for everyone's opinions for or against I respect them all.

If this was an open room night it is even worse, unless there is a problem with a disruptive wrestler I understand. Other than that to "reserve the right" or to pull club bylaws out is completely wrong.

Open means open it doesn't mean open unless you left our club, beat me kid everytime, or are a really good wrestler and now we are mad and you are not allowed.

Sounds like your son is a very respectable kid and makes no sense to me why anyone would do that especially when it is an open practice. I'm am sorry that that was done to him. I spent my teenage years in Chanute and that makes me sad to hear that is happening there. I live in a bigger area now and the politics suck!! As someone else said they are probably jealous of his talent!

The only thing it "might" be is possibly they might have had somebody in Mason's bracket at subs and didn't want to give him any sort of a "heads up" (seeing the who/how/etc) about who he might be facing. WHICH, is a completely separate discussion from this thread.

I have wondered that myself about Chanute being so small and having more than one team. Didn't realize it was 3 though, though it was only 2.

I can see that side of it a little bit, but control the room and the match ups and it should be able to be managed without giving up any big secrets.

James, you know that we love to have Mason and Jaymez in the room at Pittsburg. I am glad that you joined our club.

I can see one aspect of the Chanute club's decision, the by-laws are there for a reason, they should be followed. I really can't see one good reason this is a by-law, but oh well.

if i were the chanute club i would re-think some of my decision, i mean i would hate for surrounding areas to begin to exclude the chanute kids. good practice partners/ open rooms are what build this sport. KS is behind the nation in this aspect already.

Tanner, Tyler, and Wes have benefitted from having Mason, and i know he is pushed by Tanner, being so close in weight

Brandon worked out with the HS boys last night, man was he beat when we got home, Jaymez would fit right in there too.

You know where we are, like i said we love to have you as a member of our club

I'd bet if you asked coach Rieck, he could find a couple of purple singlets to try on. i bet those two would look great in purple. wink.

While I have no firsthand knowledge of the situation being discussed, or where it happened, I want to clarify that this did not happen at the Chanute Wrestling Club. We have no such rule. If you have a current card and are in good standing with USAWKS you are welcome in our room at any practice.

Thanks.

To those of you who jump to conclusions and judge too quickly, remember there are 2 sides to every story. This family has jumped from club to club for years. Evidently, the club in question, was not good enough to rejoin this year. They made the choice to join a club elsewhere.
And, both of the TURNER BOYS are welcome to join the club practices.

If they are welcome, then what does it matter if they joined your club this year?

sekwrestling, if the boy's are welcomed why are we on the forum right now. It was made clear Wendesday we wasn't welcomed there. You are right there is 2 sides to the story and your side in the beginning was to choose a club, and I choose a club and what did we get for it banned and voted against.
