3. Reese Cokeley - 10 - SJA - 4A - 25-4
4. Bryce Morgan - 11 - ELD - 4A - 18-1
5. Logan Terrill - 9 - ARK - 5A - 24-6

Chief just wondering what the criteria was with these three over Francka of Chase County?

2 time runner up, only lose is to Leach (#2), finished ahead of Cokeley at Silver Lake last year, pinned Morgan last year, and i dont know of anything on the Terrill kid. Thank you for your time.

It's a good question. He dropped below Leach after that loss and then Leach moved up as the season moved along. Strength of schedule had a lot to do with it. I will look at that again.

You mean 120. Kough is a tough kid and should be considered at 120.

You know 'strength of schedule' has a lot to do with rankings, and rankings have a lot to do with strength of schedule - its becomes a circular argument...just a comment... but I enjoy the rankings and the discussions that follow....

I saw that Reed (Colby) beat Risewick 4-2 in a dual last night. I watched Reed wrestle in the finals at Newton against a Tulsa Union wrestler. He is just scary big for a 120 pounder, scary big. It was a great match with Reed cutting the TU wrestler with just under a minute in the 3rd to go down by one and was never able to score the two he needed from his feet to win. Great match though.

Well then all of the Ark City kids should be bumped up two more places on Strength of Schedule ALONE! grin

I concur. Should also get some strong consideration for intermats Fab 50. IMO

Chief,

As it has already been pointed out you need to get Alex Kough of Scott City into the rankings at 120 as he has a head to head win over John Risewick of Norton. I'm sure you'll get some more criteria for him to be in the rankings after the Garden City Tournament.

Another 321Aer at 120 who certainly deserves a ranking in the All-Class is Brandon Ball of Hoisington. Ball picked up a 3rd place finish in a tough bracket at the Hays Tournament. He won by fall over #8 Kevin Arnhold of Hays in the consolation semis. Ball does have two losses, but they are to All-Class ranked wrestlers. This weekend he lost what I assume was a tight match with #1 Isaac Dulgarian of STA at a score of 4 to 1. Prior to that he lost at the Hoisington Tournament in December to #6 Chris Burley of Great Bend.

When you calculate all class team ranking - don't you just assign
a value to each ranking? I think that is how they do it with the college rankings for individual tournament scoring/ranking. Or are you looking at total team performance at tournaments - I do like that. It really doesn't matter to me I was just curious how the calculations worked or how it is calculated in each class ranking 6A, 5A, 4A, & 123A. I think in each class a value is assigned to each wrestlers rank and then added up.

Rank 1 = 10 points
Rank 2 = 9 points
Rank 3 = 8 points
Rank 4 = 7 points
Rank 5 = 6 points
Rank 6 = 5 points
Rank 7 = 4 points
Rank 8 = 3 points
Rank 9 = 2 points
Rank 10 = 1 point

Sean,

Within each class, the starting point for the team ranking starts with the following values for the top six wrestlers.

1st - 20 points
2nd - 14 points
3rd - 10 points
4th - 8 points
5th - 5 points
6th - 3 points

I then add in other team members that will likely score points without placing. In case of ties or very close scores, the number of finalists are usually the tie-breaker. The All-Class team rankings are not calculated quite the same way. These team rankings do not simulate a Grand state scenario. The entire team is still considered. The results of the larger tournaments during the year carry more weight, as the smaller number of teams make the results closer to a dual result. At times, when I release the AC rankings before the class rankings, the AC team ranking could change after I have analyzed the individual classes more closely.

Chief I know there is always a debate from someone on the all class rankings but I just wonder how martlett could be 3 spots ahead of archer when archer beat him 13-6 and has less losses and they have no commons at least in the traditional sense with martlett having no wins over anyone who has beaten archer.

Archer lost to Alex Stockton at Holton from GE did he not? Marlatt beat Stockton the week before at Newton?

As stated above, Marlatt beat Stockton 7-0 at Newton after Stockton pinned Roberson from LV. Roberson then beat Archer in that same bracket.

This is alex Stockton. and correction i did not wrestle archer at holton, newton was not there. i did however wrestle solomon. (sorry if i miss spelled it. also i wrestled roberson at newton twice pinned the first time and i believe 5-2 (dont quote me on that) however i believe that the rankings are how they should be except for Laine Herl. not to discredit his win over the colorado kid, but i believe that just because he beat someone who beat someone should not give him the second spot. granted his record, someone coming from not being ranked to becoming #2 all class is a huge jumop.

Laine Herl has criteria over Chad Blair. Blair beat DeShazer. DeShazer has criteria over Stockton and Marlatt. That is why he's ranked at #2.
