I agree with that article. Maybe I am biased, but I have always believed wrestling is the toughest sport.

I would have to put Rugby up there close to wrestling, though I also am biased when it comes to that too.

Wow, cool, that is awesome.
All I need to know is that wrestling is number one on the list. That gives it complete validity, and everything else is secondary.
The fact that it was also compiled by a track athlete makes it even more impressive in my mind and definitely unbiased. Most track athletes that I have met don't know the first thing about wresting and what it takes.
I have also seen lists that document the energy expenditure of a wrestler and wrestling is number one on that list as well among all other sports.

Yeah, I hear what you are saying about swimming as it usually comes up in discussions about "tough" sports. You definitely need great conditioning and you have to train hard but it is mainly just conditioning that you train on. I really don't consider it a "tough" sport. It is great for wrestlers and boxers and mma fighters I agree but again mainly just the conditioning thing because there is really no resistance. There is not even really any impact like in track. There is no throwing or punching or hitting, no contact. Now if there were water goblins on the bottom of the pool grabbing at the swimmers trying to drown them or impeed their movement or hitting them with mallets or something like that then it would be "tough" like wrestling. There is a reason why there are not a lot of injuries in swimming other than maybe like cardiac arrest. Sorry to be a hater. I know it is good for you.
