Does anyone have any predictions on who will make the finals of state at 115?

If Colby Crank wrestles 115, I expect he will win out in the Dist. III/IV side. In the Dist. I/II side, it should be either Ian Whittit from Derby, or Ryan Carlson from Hiawatha.
Of course, there could be some kid coming out of MS that I have not seen this year that could be a sleeper.

I hear that Alex Feldkamp of Mulvane (District 2 South) lost to Whittit in the finals in OT. So I don't think Whittit is as unbeatable as a lot of people think he is. ( BEWARE of the underdogs from the middle schools!! )

I don't recall anyone saying Ian was unbeatable, he is, as is any kid. Ian is a great kid though who is still really, raw, how much does any wrestler know after wrestling for only 5 months or less? He does know basics and is a good example to all wrestlers and coaches as to how important the basics are. It was a pleasure being in the corner with him yesterday in his overtime win, he also showed a lot of people how important another aspect of wrestling is, and that is heart. I hope that people will remember this; he is still after all a 12 and under wrestler. Will he win state? Frankly, I hope so, because he is a kid from our club and it is good to know that the Derby Green is back. I know how hard he and his usual work out partner Trey Chavez have worked but there are never any guarantees. I do know this, no one is taking this first year kid lightly now. Just remember he should still be struggling in Novice but doesn't wrestled there..

Yes, KansasWrestling is right i wrestled middle school all year and there will be some tough contenders coming out to wrestle post season they also will be a big underdog but they can beat anyone just like kids wrestlers can.

Mike;
Is Ian in the lower half of the age for 12U, or is he moving up to 14U next year? I have spoken to him several times this year and he is a really nice kid besides being a good wrestler. He has shown true concern for my son a couple of times this year when my son got hurt. And he seems to be the type of kid that won't lose his head when things don't go his way. He seems to be a true sportsman.

Wow...Ian Whittit is really getting a lot of talk on the forum. Mike Furches is right about about Ian and mastering the basics. Ian has worked hard the past 4-5 months to catch up with friends who have wrestled for years. He has a courageous heart and never, never stops working. Beyond that KSDAVE has noticed that Ian is a great kid. Off the mat he is soft spoken and very kind, on the Mat he is a beast and brings it.

I hope he wins state, but we are proud of what he has accomplished already and the fact that he represents our club like a true champion.

Nick Wetzel from Pittsburg should do pretty well, he wrestles Hambleton as tough or better than anyone else I have seen.

My son started wrestling in the seventh grade at age 12. He went 12-0 in novice. Went to open and found the real world. Now at 15 qualified for KS 5A state. I just can not believe that someone in 5 months can figure it out.

Ian came in fourth at Derby to Kyle Caylor, Cody Sherwood and Kody Haskins when they combined 115/120, and he came in second to Garrett Mitchell at Rose Hill when they combined 115/120/130. But, since then, he beat both Kody Haskins and Cody Sherwood at Maize.

The match at maize between whittit and sherwood was a close match that went into overtime.

1. Joey Hambelton - Parsons
2. Tanner Kriss - Colby

those are my top 2 ONLY because Eck and Hambelton are on the same side of the bracket

3. Willie Eck - Brawlers
4. Kyle Caylor - TOHK

2 best in my opinion are Hambleton and Eck but it wont work out that way for the finals so semis will be the finals match.
