Our Junior team did outstanding, coming in 9th in the nation, one point behind Oregon but ahead of powerhouses like Michigan, New Jersey, Florida, New York & Pennsylvania.
Congratulations to our five All-Americans: Andrew Millsap (Junction City) 2nd @ 152, Jared Johnson (Pleasant Ridge) 2nd @ 170, Spencer Wilson (Topeka Seaman) 5th @ 182, Nathan Butler (Leavenworth) 5th @ 285 and Calvin Ochs (Hoxie) 8th @ 160.

You know we talk about the AA's, but I want to give credit to some of the other kids like Dylan Wiesner. He had a winning record, made it to the 2nd day. Another Kansas 170 with a great showing.
Also, lets give credit to a great group of young coaches. A number of these are coaches my son has worked with for years...without their hard work and sweat, their is NO WAY any of these kids would have done what they did...\

Just a personal note. I've spent most of my yrs in the 321A ranks. Watched Jared Johnson for 4 years and am a huge fan. When he takes the mat, the entire gym stops what they're doing and watches him. Calvin Ochs grew into a super star in his 4 yrs. One of Hoxie's best of all time, which is saying a lot. My move to 5A introduced me to some new faces. I've seen some really good heavyweights in KS. Disney, Boyle, Zlatnik, Sprigg, Ubben, among others. Nathan Butler is among the best I've ever seen. Andrew Milsap used to come to Seaman High School for USAWKS training sessions. He showed technique and was a great workout partner. Spencer Wilson has a special place in my heart. He came in for 6am workouts during the season. His high school season didn't end the he wanted but his off season including Colorado, Iowa, Junior Duals, and Fargo have put him on the map where he belongs !
