This tournament is to set the teams that will go to Nebraska in April for Team Kansas.

It will be just like the Middle School State Championships.

Sunday March 9th is the date of this tournament.

I need some input on location. I have two locations that I think can host this tournament, both have tournaments Saturday March 8th.

One is in Gross Coliseum at Fort Hays State in Hays and the other is Hartman Arena in Wichita.

Wrestling starts at 9 am and done by 4 pm.

Please give me pros and cons on each location

No more Real Estate office hand "shakes" and back rubs??? LMFAO!!!
Great idea. Its nice to see progress. Good job. And I truly mean that. Maybe with lots and lots and lots of hard work and practice my son can make the team.

Just my thoughts James but i think your participation numbers from the east end of the state would be better if you use wichita.

I have never been to Hartman. Gross Coliseum is a great place to have a tournament. With the inside track plenty of room to warm up before matches. Where ever you host the tournamemt someone is going to have to drive.

I agree that participation from the east may be better if in Wichita, but on the other hand numbers from the west may be better if it is held in Hays.

No matter where this is held someone is going to have to drive further than others.

I do think this is a good idea rather than doing the buddy system.

Once again I think this is a good idea, but one thing that may come up is:

Wrestler A beats wrestler B in the qualifying on March 8th. Then Wrestler B beats wrestler A in state championship 3 weeks later. Who goes on what team? I know both of them would make the teams, but I know many that are very head strong about being on team 1.

This has happened in the past. Placing at the qualifying tournament is the way the teams stand!

FYI Hartman Arena is hosting the Region VI Basketball Championship on March the 8th. I found that on the Kansas Jayhawk Conference website.

When are you doing the 6U champioship in Salina? Couldn't we do it on the same day and just do a split format. With 6U in the morning and Elementary in the afternoon or flip flop.

I don't care wear it is. Wichita or Hays are both 2 hour drives for us.

I think Hays would be best. But I also think who ever is heading this up needs to just pick one and be done with it. It doesn't matter to the majority where you do it. A few will complain about gas and time but that's just wrestling. Right?

James,

My recommendation is central to eastern kansas. This is from a pure numbers perspective. The largest 3 districts are district 1, 2, and 3. Doesn't make sense to put the tournament a long ways from those areas if you want maximum participation. Especially if there are options available that are more centrally located to the largest number in your customer base.

I acknowledge that stinks for district 4 but it is a simple business model. You will not get the same amount of participation if you have it in Hayes....too far for a lot of folks.

If this is going to be the common practice from here out, what about doing it on a rotational basis...

Now that the season is off and running. Does anyone know any new information on the Elementary Dual tournament?

I would suggest Hays, Salina, or Wichita areas. If you go to far west, the eastern kids will not come. If you go to far east, the western kids. Since Region 6 Basketball is in Hartman, what about the Arena in Hutchinson? It seams to be a fairly central location for all. Hays would be good because they have the Western Kansas Classic on the 8th so setup should be done if we chose to have it there.

I like the idea of Hutchinson.
