Just confused how the club directors could vote to mandate subs for District 4 high school division. Seems like a ton of driving, gas, time, and entry fees for not much wrestling... I am struggling to find the common sense and fiscal responsibility of this decision. ALL of these brackets would have been easy to decide on the weekend of Districts.

Loc: Arkansas City Hell, just change the rules mid season and force them to do what you want. 6U weights were voted down, but they were changed anyways. 30 kids chose to attend a tournament in Colorado, so the rules were changed to allow them to wrestle the state series. Just Cancel the D4 Subs, apparently those in power can do whatever they want, even if the "State Body" doesn't agree. I'm sure glad that those in power know what is best for us simple folk and help protect us from ourselves. Thank You, Big Brother.

Track had not been updated for this year's tournament when I copied those last night. Mat time is mat time. I don't think a majority of the parents would agree to needlessly wrestle a qualifier. The choice of where to get your mat time would be a better option. These numbers are before scratches and you have nearly 1/3 of your DISTRICT brackets that don't need to be wrestled to qualify and 75% of your sub brackets with four or less. District 4 is ALWAYS complaining about how big it is and how far they have to travel, how much it costs, and these are legitimate issues when you have brackets like these.

I would think making/breaking(whichever makes you sleep better) a rule just for 10 kids is irresponsible also. I guess if you know the right people and are good enough the rules don't apply to you. Thanks Kansas Kids Board for teaching such an important lesson.

Oh I forgot pay your 20 bucks and just don't wrestle. Fiscal Responsibility? Making kids pay for RMN and Subs, not an option that was voted on either. I guess money cures everything. Another good lesson for our wrestlers.

It was not even presented at the State Body Meeting. I'm not sure how it is legal.

One of the goals of the State Board should be to make things financially easier for the parents. To have to drive along distance for subs, when your kid is the only 1 in his bracket does not make a lot of sense. Will is completely right on this one. As a parent who has spent a ton of money on wresting, I like ideas that would save me money.

Beeson, if its a good idea, that makes sense....is the only issue the fact that procedural rules were not followed??????

I agree with the decision...My ONLY issue is how it was handled.

So what's the decision? I was under the impression HS was wrestling subs. Are HS kids skipping Subs and only wrestling in Districts?

I agree Beeson. I have a problem with the way it was handled the week before subs. If you want to have your cake and eat it too then that is fine. Plan and make a proposal and do it the right way!!
