What is the entry fee for Districts? Asking in particular for District 1, not sure if it is same in every district.

Maybe I missed this somewhere, sorry if so!

And will it be split format like last year, or has that been determined, yet?

And weigh-ins Friday night again?

Thanks!

Coach, the D1 flyer is still in progress. When it's finished and approved it'll be sent out.

But, to answer some of your questions with what I know...1)I don't know the fee; assume it'll be the same or near the same as last year-whatever Joe says :);...2)Yes, split format; it has not yet been decided which ages will go in which session;8:30 a.m./appx 12:30 p.m...3)Weigh ins Friday night as last year-but at Olathe West of course and likely also the one approved satellite location tba(for example last year was at Jayhawk Linn).

Thanks for checking in,
Mike McLaughlin

Yes, the entry fee for all districts is the same $25.00, but shouldn't be. By linking all districts to the same fee amount, it was the only way they could get an increase in the State tourney fee.

Actually the Qualifying tournament series were decided years ago to be the same as the State Fee, it was done when the board was trying to make all qualifying tournaments the same format. Making the districts use the same tournament format didn't last long at all, the fees stayed the same as the State fee though.

Lance, for a couple of years or more the state body had voted down increases in the state entry fee. Some smart person figured out, the way to get an increase in the state entry fee was to link the increase to all qualifier fees. Each district has their own needs for revenue depending on venues etc.. There is no reason that each district needs to do things exactly the same except on the mat or where it would give one district a decided advantage.

I don't think anyone probably cares, but I was on the board at the time they decided the districts would be the same as the state tournament fees. I had been trying for years (more than a couple) to get the State tournament fees raised from $15 to $20 so the officials could get paid better. At that time they got $150 a day and some got a shared room. Our district tournament charged $15 when other districts where already charging $20. They finally raised the State fee to $20. A couple of years later they tried to make the districts all the same, I and others argued the fees shouldn't be the same. $15 was reasonable and the host could still make a profit. We lost and the fees and several other things were supposed to be followed to try to get the qualifying tournaments run on the same format. I agree with you that they don't need to be exactly the same, the board at the time however felt there was some disadvantages and felt that was a place to start. Later figuring out that because of the sizes of district it might not be possible. The State Tournament comittee worked hard to try to make sure everyone was following but it didn't quite work out.
