One of our dear friends has been fighting for his life. Dusty has asked that I don’t post his ailment. He is weak and probably won’t take calls. I am hoping this wrestling family of prayer warriors can unite and pray for one the best the business has ever had. If you would post your favorite stories about Dusty I will be sure he gets them.

Dusty started his career at west Elk in 1975-76, That team practiced on the basketball floor, as the school would not buy them a mat. The following year he moved to Douglass and has been there ever since, 46 years. He taught me more about life and kids than perhaps anybody else in my life. He is a man that has literally saved hundreds of kids in a difficult place to coach. A man I admire as one of the best I have ever met! Tonight my prayer is for you my friend!

It’s a great day to be alive

We were honored to be present at his Douglass High Sports Hall of Fame Induction at the Goodwill Tournament in December. Our maker doesn't make them any better than Coach Rhodes. It seems I learn more great things about him every time his name is brought up. He is a leader of young men and ladies and a unbelievable role model for them and us peer coaches alike. His years of service alone speak volumes but how he does it is even more admirable. We wrestling coaches are in great company with our peers at nearly every event but in my book Dusty is the cream of the Crop.
