I thought Marysville had a full team but then all of the sudden I hear that they have only a handful of guys left on the team, what's going on in Black Squirrel Country?

Coach got let go by the school board I heard, made a bunch of the wrestlers mad, so they quit the team.

They got rid of him in the middle of the season? Wasn't he there for a pretty long time?

The rumor I heard was he had trouble with one kid- kick him off the team and the parents complained and the coach was let go. When the coach was let go alot of kids left with him and that is Noble but not good for wrestling as schools struggle to retain the wrestling. I think it was noble for the kids to stand behind their coach and I hope it doesn't hurt Marysville wrestling. Two wrongs don't make a right I was told by my parents.

I think some kids disagreed with what happened but they needed to look out for themselves as well but would still side with the coach. When you are a great wrestler it would be hard to walk out when you are on top of the pile. Good Luck to Marysville and I hope this blackeye won't keep them down. To good a wrestling school to see drop off

I think the coach was treated poorly but he should have stepped up to the plate and encouraged the kids to compete without him. I think his failure to convince the kids who apparently look up to him to keep working is his gravest failure.

The rumor that I heard was that it wasn't just between this coach and the wrestler. This wrestler had caused a lot of anxiety and trouble with the other teammates. Did the teammates quit just because of the coach being fired or did they also quit because this wrestler was allowed to stay and they didn't want to put up with him anymore? At this point, it is all speculation.

Even if the kids quit for that reason they should have had somebody step up to the plate and give them better advice. Someday they will get introduced to the real world where they just might have to put up with things they don't like. It still seems to me the coach, (though he may have been treated poorly) put his selfish interst ahead of the kids. The kids were more loyal to him than he was to them.

How can you say that without knowing the all the details. Did the coach quit-no he was fired. Did he tell the kids to quit or did they do so on their own? Sometimes, you have to be a man to take a stand against something you strongly believe is wrong. Sometimes, you need to realize what is best for you in a situation. Sometimes, you need the whole story, both sides, before you make a decision on which side to take.

What is that saying? If you don't stand up for something you'll fall for anything?

perhaps the young men on the team saw their situation as a choice of whether or not to participate in a system that in their view was corrupt or wrong. If their decision was based on a sacrifice of their wrestling aspirations to point out a gross injustice, it was their right to do so and they should not be criticized for it. I am sure that is not a popular view but it is still their right.

FYI; the coach did emphatically encourage the kids to stay wrestling. He was anything but selfish in this travesty. The entire wrestling program has been devastated as a result of one kid. The boys that quit were making a stand for the injustice being done to their much respected coach and also were showing their disappointment in an administration not looking at the one person causing all of the conflict. This has disrupted the entire school and wounded our wrestling program dramatically.

what a shame, it should never come down to something like this, wrestling is dying enough as it is with title 9 and all, this is the last kind of thing we need hapening to ous schools.
