During the past 12 months many people have come and gone in the world and changes have occurred all over the Earth. Hard to believe on April 22nd, 2004 just 1 year ago today I learned of something that would change my life as I know it today.

Last April I came to my wrestling family through both this wrestling website and themat.com and told you of my diagnosis with cancer. The chances of survival were low then, but then again I don't think my docs ever dealt with a wrestler. As I continue to battle with my health and undergo tests in the next few weeks to check a spot on my heart, I may not be on here as much...please know that I wish I were on here, when I may be in a PET Scan or even on the operating table for possible Open Heart Surgery.

You all have been great in supporting me and I'm humbled by your outpouring for me. I was never the "elite" wrestler, and I feel that I'm near the top of the podium as we speak. I know looking back on the days spent puking and nights sweating that the worse looks well behind me. I know I still have a long way to go, but with the support of my wrestling family, the journey will be easier than traveling alone.

Thanks you all and God Bless!

P.S. You can keep up to tabs with my cancer battle and read back on everything from day one on my site: http://www.caringbridge.org/ks/aaronsweazy

P.S.S. Please keep Kortney Lake (Adams State College All American) in your prayers, he has a very bad form of cancer and is truly fighting for his life...if you can help attend a fundraiser or contact the coaching staff at ASC to send money do it, we need to help our fellow brothers on the mat and off it as well!

Swayz, we are with you and if there is anything I can do let me know. Mary Jane was asking about you last night as was Marathana. We love you and are keeping you in our prayers on a regular basis. I am also going to visit with the Graebners on Sunday afternoon and want to talk to you about the Foundation and all. Will talk later and hang in there.

Don't worry Swayz I know you'll make it. You just need to be strong no matter what. Like Mike Said... if there is anything I can do just let me know. Can't wait to see you completely healthy.

Everyone needs an inspiration like Tyler. He fought harder than anyone ever has on a wrestling mat and it was for his life.

LOL I was down to 204 when I was diagnosed...they pumped me up with steroids to fight it and I was up to 286 at one point in a few short months! The nice thing about being on roids is now I can go play for the San Francisco Giants!

Swayz,

Just wrestle Ms. Jenni, she will slap it out of you.

With many family members and my grandma in remission I can imagine how you feel, but I don't know. I think what helped her was many prayers and you will have plenty of those.

Take Care

Been a year, swayz, in that time I got to meet you, watched the way you affect the people around you. What's so cool about this sport is that the really great guys in it, the ones that will do anything for anyone because they are in the family, are for the most part not the elite guys that take so much from it. They are the guys that have struggled, and realize that kindness and compassion are not a weakness, but a strength to the human condition. You exemplify, in my view , the fact that giving as much as you can of yourself is just incredibly greater than taking everything that the sport and the people that comprise it have to give, and leaving nothing behind except a breif impression that you were the baddest or the most dominating. The greatest man is the one that helps others, and that makes you pretty great, swayz. Another guy that I met this year that really impressed me in his ability to be a positive in the lives of many is a great elite wrestler, Mr. Akin. Mr. Chenowith also exhibits this trait. to those who give more than they take, may you continue. To those whose present greatness revolves around self, take a page from the books of mr. Sweazy, Akin, and Chenowith. These guys are the real deal, and it has been a pleasure to hang with 'em for however breif it was. Thanks!

Mr Swayz,
I have only been active on this website a few months. I have read a lot of your posts. Haven't
always agreed with you. I respect your knowledge
and your insights,on a sport that I am learning.
May God keep you and bless you. You will be in my prayers. This sport needs more people like
you.

Scotty nothing personal man, but I wouldn't admit you sing in choir unless you are HUGE, if you aren't I would suggest you mention you have a "friend"

What? Are you saying that female wrestlers can't sing? I'm not big... I'm 5'10 and 152.... So :p and what exactly do you mean by a “friend” ? ; )
