I received some bad news regarding former Anderson County High School wrestler Andy Potts. He was in a bad car accident, hit head on. The initial prognosis was that he had a very slim chance of survivng, and if he did, he wouldnt be able to use his legs again. I dont know if this is true, but im sure it is because I came by it via another former bulldog. Pray for Mr. Potts.

Found this is the Ottawa Herald today:

A Richmond man injured in a car accidnet Friday afternoon remains in critical condition at the University of Kansas Hospital.
Andrew Potts, 21, was seriously injured in a two-vehicle accidnet about three miles north of Ottawa at about 1:30p.m. Friday. He was driving north on U.S. 59 when a vehildle driven by Arthur Meade, 37, Neosho Falls, crossed the center line and struck Potts' vehidle.
Meade was pronounced deatd at the scene.
Potta is a 2001 graduate of Andersonc County High School in Garnett.

Hope this helps,

This article was in the Oct.1st edition of the Baker Orange, Baker's Student newspaper. Potts is currently attending Baker.

Potts in ICU after car accident
By Tara White, Editor
A 37-year-old man was killed, and a Baker University student sustained severe injuries in a head-on collision Friday afternoon near Ottawa.

Neosho Rapids resident Arthur G. Meade died. Junior Andy Potts was transported to the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan. He was still in the intensive care unit at the hospital Wednesday morning, a nursing supervisor at the hospital said.

The accident was at 1:31 p.m. three miles north of Ottawa on U.S. Highway 59. Meade was traveling south in a 1994 Honda when his car crossed the center line and struck a 1998 Chevrolet driven by Potts, a Kansas Highway Patrol official said.

Sophomore Susan Chandler, a close friend of Potts, said he endured several injuries, including several broken bones and collapsed lungs, but said he had no brain damage.

Cindy Edwards, his mother, said his health is improving.

"He's still struggling a lot, but he's making slight improvements. It's still pretty critical," she said. "There's not a lot anybody can do. He can't have visitors until he's off the ventilator."

Chandler said the first few days after the wreck were difficult for friends and family.

"This weekend was pretty hard because we didn't know if he would be OK," she said. "His mom said the first 48 hours were critical, and he's through that."

Chandler said this was the third wreck Potts has been in since January.

Potts was in the accident that killed Baker student Shawn Trager April 13 on U.S. Highway 56.

He also totaled his vehicle three months earlier after it slipped off the road into a telephone pole due to icy conditions.

Edwards said cards could be sent to ICU room 2652; KU Medical Center; 3901 Rainbow Boulevard; Kansas City, KS 66160.

"He can't have flowers in ICU, but cards would be great," she said. "He's not awake yet. We'd love for him to have cards to look at when he wakes up."

I didn't know him personally but, there was a wonderful article in the Topeka Capital Journal a couple of weeks ago. He is doing very well of course still has a long way to go! There was a picture of him and he still has a traction of sorts on his leg but, he looked well!
