Manhattan had 4 in '97 - Matt Bradshaw @ 152, Scott Coleman @ 171, Damon Parker @ 215, and AJ Polansky @ 275. They were all juniors that year; the next year, all but Polansky repeated (he took 2nd). They also had Kenneth Walter, who took 3rd at 160, and they still weren't able to pull off a championship (I think Garden City took it that year).

ST Francis has done it twice 1974 and 1979.
I know that Hoxie and Norton both did it at least once in the 50s or 60s

I thought these two years were interesting. Remember that back then (I think there were only 12 weight classes – starting at 98 lbs and the Heavyweights (Unlimited) were anything over 185) – and 3A was in a different classification. Note: Information was from the KWCA link to Wrestling Champions.

1973 1-2A
Interesting because two schools had 9 champ’s out of 12 weights – Hm…Northwest Kansas??

Brown, Dave [Atwood] (Unlimited)
Vap, Jeff [Atwood] (167 lb.)
Lorimer, Jerry [Atwood] (155 lb.)
Holle, Kevin [Atwood] (145 lb.)
Wicke, Randy [Atwood] (119 lb.)

Pope, Steve [Hoxie] (112 lb.)
McClelland, Charles [Hoxie] (126 lb.)
Campbell, Ron [Hoxie] (132 lb.)
Prickett, Andy [Hoxie] (138 lb.)

Oh – Atwood won the team title and Hoxie was second.

1974 1-2A
The first State Championship Tourney that I attended in person – at Colby. Interesting because (if I remember right) St. Francis took only four kids, and all four of them won championships (someone correct me if that is wrong). Team-wise Sainty placed 2nd and Oakley 1st – I think Oakley had nine qualifiers with three champions.

Frewen, Mike [Saint Francis] (105 lb)
Schneider, Brad [Saint Francis] (145 lb.)
Holzworth, Randy [Saint Francis] (185 lb.)
Zuege, Leslie [Saint Francis] (Unlimited)

Yea...that was quite the team, I remember facing Manhattan in a dual and laughing watching my one teammate cursing like crazy because "DAM, how did I get Coleman?" It was funny. I had the 215 draw one of those years and faced Cordell Black, I believe Parker then took over 2nd semester and went on to win it. I've faced both Polansky boys as well.

For a media person, you should check your facts Beloit 6 in one year.

I remember that beloit team-- it just seemed like they would never quit coming out and whipping people. THat was about as dominant a team as you could have. Too bad the coach went to Wyoming because he built a dynasty there comparable to Ark city with a team that had no legacy to speak of.

No, you should learn how to read and understand. It says Arkansas City, most in one year. Those are just Ark City Champions for the most in one year records. Those records come off the Ark City record board and those were the most (5) that Ark City ever had. It doesn't say anything about the most ever.

You are a journalist huh? The title is most state champions and you post Ark City 5 most in 1 year. Clear as mud great journalism. I do understand the difference between Ark City Most Champions on one team 5 and .. 5 most champions on an Ark City team.

No, I'm a PE major. suck on that The title is 4 Champs, not most, so you still can't read. It was cut and pasted off a web page. By the way, what year was Beloits six, and who were they, you might as well contribute something while you are trying to start a fight.

now read real good
