Is it illegal for a high school coach to work with younger kids.

Unless they have changed it, and they may have, it has always been legal for a coach to work with younger kids as long as he is not coaching them the following school year.

Maybe so, but how many times have we seen it happen? A few of these guys may not be right in "their corner" but are at the edge of the mat at the 14 & 16 year olds matches and it's pretty obvious who the kids are taking direction from. Yelling from the stands as a spectator is one thing, but this kind of stuff is stacking the deck and not the kind of example those coaches should be setting for their kids. Is it ok to break/bend the rules if you are not blatantly obvious about it? It bothers me when I see it happen every year at the qualifying tournaments, but what can you do about it?

Quit crying about it, it's not like the coach is out there wrestling for the kid. I say practice up, if you won you wouldn't care who was in your opponent's corner.

The offseason rules have been somewhat relaxed, as a coach we used to have a standing agreement and have local coaches or former wrestlers of mine help out,,it was great for the fraternity,,and to what advantage was it,,,,if i was that big a factor i appreciate the compliment,,but good kids are good kids,,

westphal--old timers like did not have the luxury of the year round emphasis, we got em between football and hay season,,i coached against ya way back in Kinsley,,that will age me a bit,
