Im not saying there in western kansas i was just complimenting on how good they were, but i think for only three teams in 4a now 4 with norton western kansas is pretty tough considering we only have 4 teams that are on the far western end of the state.

I can't help but notice that despite Hoxie and Oakley having pretty good teams, western kansas really fell off in 3A. the east and central each had 4 teams in the top ten. The central had easily the most champions and the East had the most top 4 medalists. Things they are a changing.

Ulysses and Hugoton arent even close it is over 2 hours away from colby. And the reason we dont have many teams in the top ten is there jsut arent the number of schools out here that there are out east.

Im not talkin about regionals im talking about the NWKL the teams that are in the far west ex colby, oakly, st francis, atwood, hoxie goodland ect. Were all within 30 mins of each other. and every year we tear it up at state.
And this year we had the 2 and 4 team in 4a and the 1 and 3 in 123a.

one reason for the increase in eastern ks wrestling champions is John Flores formerly of Leoti a north west kansas team has moved out east as well as some other western ks coaches

You are correct John Flores has had a big impact on the improvement of wrestling in 3A in Eastern KS and is one of the most respected coaches state wide. However, there have always been a lot of good coaches in Eastern Ks. Eastern Ks has competed at the same level as western KS for the last 25 years in all other classes except 3A. The performance at 3A the last few years has continued to get better. Wellsville was just one point shy of having 5 eastern schools in the top 5. Also I couldn't help but notice the Wellsville regional had the most underclassmen place, so it looks to continue to improve.
