Which of the returning state champions is most likely to repeat next year?
Lukas Zouzas SS, Sequoya Hill WH, Tristen Deshazer WW, Jake Kriegbaum AB, Jeremy Terrell RH, Ross Devoe CL, Danny Grater CC, Ross Taplin AB, Tommy Edgmon GD, Josh Baldridge CM, Frank Jonas KM, Kelly Heincker DB. I do not know many 123A wrestlers so a little help there would be appreciated. :p

I think Neil Erisman is going to clean up his bracket and be a state champ

Well not trying to be biased but I don't see anyone beating Kriegbaum so i'd have to go with him

Some people from the Norton area were overheard saying that James Annon has made it a personal goal to keep Mat Gilliland from winning his fourth title next season. Annon won @ 125 this year. Gilliland has titles at 119,125&130. That will be a real battle and an interesting match-up of wrestling styles.

103 Madden Norton freshman, 112 Younkin Oakley sophomore, 119 Baker Hoxie freshman, 125 Annon Norton junior, 130 Gilliland Hoxie junior, 135 M. Schippers Hoxie junior, 160 Pursell ACCHS sophomore, 171 Dennis Oakley junior, 215 Horinek Atwood junior and 275 Honas Ellis ??junior?? all will be back next year trying to defend their titles.

4A - Kreigbaum and Grater would have to be odds on favorites. And who will win the match if Erisman and Taplin butt heads next year?

I think things could be interesting?

Danny Grater CC, Neil Erisman DS, Ross Taplin AB, could all be in the same bracket?

Erisman a freshman, you would think he would go up at least one weight class, 152?

Grater was struggling to make weight at the end of the season so I think he would go up two weight classes next year, 152?

I don't know Taplin, so I don't know about his weight? but if he stay's, it could be real interesting?

I would love to see those 3 in the same bracket. If they are that would definatly de the toughest bracket in 4A and maybe the state.

Aaron, so proud of UCO , he is! I'm proud of my first college wrestling team, Missouri, they are becoming powerhouses, but im more proud of my hometown team and I don't have to say why.

We will wait and see what weight everyone is at next year. By the way JT, Danny weighed the other night and is only weighing 152# without watching it - dropping 10#'s is not unusual once the season starts. It will all depend how much they all grow and develop over the summer!!

Leanna,
It's so far away, nobody knows yet? We are just guessing. I thought Jeremy would go 145 his senior year but he weighs 145 right now. He is hitting the weights like always so I don't know how much more he would put on but I would guess he would go 140 next year? (no he doesn't do freestyle)

He started at 140 this year but at certification time he weighed 137 so we thought it would be stupid to stay and give up weight at 140 so he went to 135.

Lukas Zouzas SS, Sequoya Hill WH, will both repeat no problem. There isn't anyone in 5A or 6A that can compete with them.

Who Knows?
Terrell - 140
Grater - 145
Erisman - 152
Taplin - 160

I really don't think Annon has set any goals to go after anyone in particular. He's pretty low keyed about his wrestling, and just takes them as they come.
He will probably wrestle what ever weight he feels comfortable at. Coach Johnson may also have some say in it. He will take them one at a time like always, win, lose or draw.

Taplin shouldn't have any problem making 152 again next year.

Coachjt,
Why does Jeremy not wrestle freestyle? I thought he would love he considering how good he is on his feet(match against Scott City at State)! If he is thinking on wrestling any college next year he should seriously wrestle freestyle.

He has always played Baseball in the past but now in High School he just concentrates on Folkstyle. He will be wrestling in college in the future, we just aren’t sure where yet. He has talked to College Coaches about freestyle in the past and although some said it would benefit him, after we told them about his off-season training regiment they said he'll be fine. Maybe he will do some once he is in College.
